I have a weird noise... only comes out when I drive in the rain. Sounds like water is slapping against my inner fender or something just like a knocking sound but i can feel it on the shiftknob and on the floorboard its weird... only in rain though. Gets kind of irritating the slower I go the louder it gets lol.

 

Okay, I tried the search and came up with a few clues about why my suspension might be knocking, but I needed a second opinion from someone who's dealt with this more recently.

Here's the issue, at mid-low speeds (usually anywhere from 25-50 MPH) if I hit a bump at the right angle or place I feel the suspension compress (the right side only) than it decompresses with a loud, annoying and slightly scary "KNOCK." It's almost like the sound a sledgehammer might make when pounding on the A-Frame/Control arm (not sure the right terminology on that). Also in addition to this, on extremely rough roads, gravel, or even bumpy California asphalt (like the US101 northbound going down that steep grade into Oxnard) or in wheel ruts or something, my right suspension (the one that "KNOCK's") seems to bounce A LOT and I start to lose grip from that tire, begin drifting (not tail-sliding, but slowly moving) left and/or right and end up having to slow down so it doesn't bounce or vibrate so much and I get control back.

I've been told three different things so far: the spring is bad, the shock absorber is bad, or the pillow mount (I think that's the one he was talking about) is shot; I even heard that it may be a loose bolt or dirt/debris under the spring or mount.

I've checked bolts, I've looked carefully for anything that looks out of place or weird with no avail, and have but one option left (at least they keep telling me that) but I really don't want to replace a 90USD strut/absorber if in fact it's a spring, or pillow mount...or something else.

Any clues/ideas?

 

My car makes a sort of thumping/squeaking noise that comes from under the car. It almost sounds like rubber bouncin off metal, but I know it aint the tires. My dad seems to think its a CV joint, and EVERY single person I say that to asks if the noise only occurs when I turn the car. It doesn't happen when I turn, but when I lift off the throttle or depress the clutch. Thats why I dont think its a CV joint. My only guess is that the exhaust system is missing a hanger or something, causing it to be loose. Therefore, everytime I lift off the throttle or depress the clutch, which causes backpressure in the exhaust piping, it causes the piping to vibrate. Other than this theory, I am completely clueless. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated, as I need to get the car in shape to commute to school. Thanks.

Okay, I only notice this ticking noise when I go through a drive thru like Wendy's and I think it's because I usually don't start my car up and listen to it. Anyways, sometimes I notice if I start my car up after work and go through the drive thru I hear this tick...tick...tick noise while waiting at the window. From other research I understand the car knocks when cold but goes away shortly after a minute or two but this sound is different from say the lifters.

 

i gotta wierd noise. if my car shifts weight from front to rear or vice versa (but not side to side) There is a sqeuaking noise that comes from the engine bay...it sounds almost like it comes from behind the radio or front center console area. If the car is off and i sit in it and rock it...or go outside and bounce the front end up and down....no noise. Only when the car is running. What causes it is things like depressing the clutch....jolting the car forward when hitting the gas...and sometimes bumps. its an 05 lancer es. any ideas???

 

when ever i turn left i hear a clicking noise from my passenger front wheel well area.

the noise keeps pace with the revolutions of the wheel.

the faster i go the faster the clicking noise, the slower i go the slower the clicking noise.

it only happens when i turn left.

i notice a little squealing from the caliper of the same wheel

anybody know whats up???

 

You need a new CV Joint for your passenger side

 

K my turn this one is wierd... Whenever I take off for the first time (ie when cold) right before my clutch grabs I hear a alomst grinding but more like bad vibrating? sound almost like the disc is slapping around in there, the more rpms I am at when trying to engage the clutch the louder the noise. Once driving for a minute or two the next stop I am at it seems gone or alot quieter than the last time. If I give the car a descent amount of throttle at low rpms I can hear something strange up until prolly 2k 2.5k cant really explain it just sounds off and also at WOT when reaching 5k+ I hear another noise almost like my flywheel is warped or something but there is no vibration??? IDK its strange and hard to explain without being here. I put a new clutch disc PP and Throwout bearing in the car about 2 1/2 years ago

 

when ever i hit a bump theres a squeak or creak comes from the rear suspension, sounds like left side

 

could be bushings in the rear check those and take some compressed air and spray all around the shock assembly too squeaks can be caused by just dirt up in there

Hello, friends. My car makes this weird noise when I turn on the AC or the heater, or just the blowers. Its coming out of the dashboard. Its like this whistling noise inside the car. Kinda like we-e-e-e-EEE-e-E_Ee-e-eEEEEE-e-ee--e-e-e-e-e---eeeeeeeEEEE-e-E_E_eeee-eeeeeEEEeeeEEEEe.

And its super annoying. Its not the stereo. Its been like that eversince I got it used, but now a year later, I am totally fed up with it. Anybody know what that is?
