I started getting a little crackling sound around the corner of my windshield by the driver's side. I don't think it's the windshield at all, but from that area. at first i thought it was my tweeter (sounds almost like a speaker crackling) but it's not. I can turn up the stereo and it drowns out the sound, not get worse. it seems to be worse the fast i go so i'm thinking the wind is pushing against something.

I took a quick look over and the pillar and everything seemed to be tight so i can't think of what it could be.

How long has this been goin' on and did it start when you installed the camshaft or later on?
Well a valve tick is common in a Mitsubishi thats what i thought at first.
It just started like 2 weeks ago, and I installed the cam back in march, so its been normal for 8 months, till now.

Man yeah then, I'd be leaning to a valve tick.
Hope it's something else that's a easy fix though.

I would pull the radio fuse out and see if you still have the sound.
It could be low fq sound bleeding through your system to your tweeter.

If this is it, then it'll cook your tweeters core and make it sound like crap.

Do you have a good eq in your system or just the one on the radio?

Could help.
Also a oil additive like engin restore or something might help.

What kind of oil do you use?

Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w30, ya that could work. I know that my engine is not going out or I would be loosing power, and i would be eating oil... Witch its not.

Timing Belt Squeel need help please!

I've looked for days and am looking for some advise trouble shooting the squeel.

It's hard to hear with it running where the noise is coming from i thought it was the alternator. so i changed the belts and the alternator and sprayed lube on the idler pulley and it still squeeled. it is a constant squeel and doesnt seem to change much but always squeels.

I just so happen to Tap the TIMING BELT plastic cover with a hammer handle and the squeel stopped.

I have Mitubishi Lancer 2003 and the motor squeals when I start it up. It stops after a few seconds. I've checked the belts and they seem snug enough.

I just put a 2005 engine and turbo into my 2003 evo cause it blew and a new clutch. After breaking the clutch in I was able to get on it fine. It is set to stock boost I have a full 3 in exhaust to the housing and the injen intercooler piping and intake I'm still on my old tune. So I put a boost controller on set to 20 psi oh sorry old tune was set to 25.5 psi. When I got on the car set to 20 psi it started to make a loud squeal or whining noise so I set it back to stock. Now that I have it back to stock it only hits 12 psi and the turbo still makes this loud noise. Now I don't even go into boost I did check all the hoses and intercooler piping and it is fine. I didn't do a boost leak test yet but my vac is at 20 and down shifting it goes to 25 . I will check again but there was no shaft play on the turbo any help would be great thanx
