Radiator Fluid Type
Hey just want to get some of your guys views on radiator fluid type. Our US Lancers come with a Green coolent just like most cars i know. But my buddy's SRT-4 comes with Orange fluid in it. The dealership siad its for cars that run hotter and the "Orange Type" is suposed to cool better than the "Green Type." Is this a true fact? And if so would it hurt to change from Green to Orange?
The only thing it would hurt is your wallet. The differences between orange and green are negligible, though the orange is a longer lifed product.
If you do go about making the switch, flush your system COMPLETELY. The ethelyne glycol in "green" renders much of "orange" useless.
Personally, it's time for a flush and fill on my car, and I'm going with green. For a few reasons:
1. It's what the car was designed to use, and what it came with.
2. Green is teh cheep!
3. Did I mention it's CHEAP!?

well the green is regular coolant...
and the orange is dexcool....most domestic vehicles now run on dexcool....
i recommend not to use dexcool on a system that is designed to run regular "green" as we call it...mostly b/c dexcool is 5 year rated and the systems that run it, can run that particular type of coolant for 5 years...green is alot less... plus cars with dexcool doesn't neccesarily mean its runs hotter or is more performance orientated.....for example....chevy ventures use dexcool.....lol well thas my 2 pennies...take it or leave it

Yeah, as for the life of the green stuff, check it out every 2 years or 24k. (that means check it, not flush it) Personally, I drive about 30k a year, and change it every 2 years, with a full flush and fill. New hoses aren't a bad idea either, but these are just general matinence kinds of things. A "Super High Performance Upper and Lower Radiator Hose Kit" doesn't shave time off your 1/4, and it doesn't improve handling... Hell, they don't really improve cooling either, they just assist in weight reduction, out of your wallet.
