Engine stalling after RRM Valve Cover installation
Ok, let me break it down step by step:
1- On Wednesday, I removed my valve cover, took out the rubber gasket, cleaned it and also cleaned the powder coated valve cover, which btw, was very dusty underneath, and installed it.
No problems there....
2- Drove the car for the rest of the day without any visual or audible problems.
3- Came to work on Thursday morning, no problems... yet
4- Went home on Thursday around 4pm and after driving like 15 miles I made it to my neighborhood and the car stalled for the first time as I approached a stop sign, pressed the clutch all the way in, took the car out of gear and while the car was mooving towards the stop sign it died. The RPMs were just above 1k.
5- Ok, so no big deal I was thinking, started the car up and it died again, started it again but this time I floored the gas, took off, came to another light and died again. This is while RPMs are between 1.5k and 2k.
6- I got home, removed the valve cover and visually checked the holes for the PCV Valve and the other one on the corner and they looked clean, I blew air into one hole and it came out thru the other. Everything else looked fine, the coils are in place, the battery and alternator were good ( i got a tester)
The vacuum hoses were in place and secure, all the screws were in and tight. I was trying to think what else could be wrong?
I called RRM and spoke with Gabriel, he asked to check everything I just had done.
7- Put in the valve cover again, thinking that maybe my problem would be solved, but no, the car starting stalling again, the oil light was blinking and the SES light came on. Now, keep in mind that this only happens when the car is warmed up and the RPMS drop to 1k or 900.
8- I got to the garage, check the oil levels, cold and hot and it was good!
9- So now is Friday morning, car is having the same problem and I'm out of ideas, I know it sounds silly but I'm putting my stock valve cover back on to see if that solves the problem.
Forgot to mention the loud rattle that now comes out from the engine!!!!!!! WTF is that? It scares the living **** out of me people.
Need help soon!!!!
For the skeptics, let me add something, my car had never stalled before I installed the new valve cover! So you tell me?

I don't know what to tell you. I didn't have any problem when I removed my valve cover and painted it. I know it not the same as replacing it with a different one, but I still had to do the same things to paint it. I would take it to the dealer and let them take a look.
I was afraid someone was going to suggest that!
If I bring it to the dealer all of my aftermarket **** has to come off:
Starting with my header, test pipe, intake, etc...
I would have to make my car look like stock again.
Did your car rattled after you re-installed your valve cover?
Cause mine does and it is really loud and i can tell that it comes from the engine compartment and I can also tell that is the valve cover that rattles, even though is nicely tight and secure!

I didn't know about all your mods, didn't look at your profile. My car didn't rattle after I did this, I don't know why it would. Instead of taking it to a dealer, take it to autozone or somewhere else where they can pull engine codes. Good luck.
I was the first one to get the RRM Red Valve Cover and have yet to have any problems with mines. Everything still runs smooth as ever. I would take my car back to the dealership if I were you. They wont care about the air intake. But I think that they would care about the test pipe and the header. My dealership has serviced mines and did not care the least bit about the mods I had on it.
do what HondaKillingLan said go to Auto Zone or some place that will pull codes for you. and see what it is, also make sure your gasket is good... It might look good but when its tightened down it sometimes splits and they leak. also make sure the valve cover is not bent or anythhing it can make it leak also when its tightened down. Hope you find out whats wrong with it

Helpful if the problem is similar. Check all connections etc.

I actually spoke with that guy on IM and he said that his problem due to a bad coil ignition wire.
I checked mine and they were as good as new.
Nevertheless I'm Magnecore wires today!
We'll see if that helps/
I also notice that my oil level went down and the oil left is fairly burned so I will get an oil change today (way before the next due service, btw) and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks.

The worst has happened!
My engine blew up! No more lancer!
An object on the road cut a hole on my oil pan and quickly drained all of the oil, leaving no visible marks behind.
Engine blew while I was going from work to the Oil Change Shop!!!
I want to clarify that my problem was not related in any way to the valve cover from RRM.

Ah man. That sucks big time.
Through all of this had the oil light come on? When do you figure the pan got cut? You had checked the oil Thursday night right. All of it sounded like extreme oil starvation but I dismissed it as you did not mention the oil light and had checked the oil level.
Sounds like you need an engine. Didn’t Pimpson mention somewhere that he was doing a swap.

You'll still spend about 100 bucks in the dealership and not be serviced.
Ob boy, a cut oil pan. Yes, I'm with Braf. A CE light should have poped up on the dash from its stravation of oil. Also, can't you feel the motor being sluggish or whining abnormally high or choppy shift points?
