Gah! I just bought and installed the RRM SRI last week... GAH! Yeah, it is great. To those of you thinking about getting a SRI go with this, and for 139 it's a steal... GAH!

*Hearing George Forman saying "Did you pay too much for your muffler?"*

PS- I didn't get to thank you Rock for selling me on your SRI... So thanks to you... oh and Gabe. You guys kick ***. And I'm really happy I went with your SRI as oposed to that other company that has Two Rs in their name and a an M... they will go nameless.... heh

Have you guys seen any problems using the short ram intake from non-laminar air flow into the MAS? I have read that the MAS requires something like 8 inches of straight section pipe before and 4 inches after in order to properly read the air stream passing through it, and that having the conical air filter so close to the upstream side of the MAS disrupts the laminarity of the flow into it, causing it to misread the amount of air moving through the sensor. Is there any merit to this?

Air is straightened out by honeycombs in the mas. If that much straight pipe was needed before MAS, then stock would suck because it has so many baffles/bypass chambers. We got 0-60 times almost a whole second faster. Seems like we are on to something with this product.

Excellent point Rock. Yet another example of opening my mouth before opening my eyes, as a quick look under the hood confirmed what you said. Should have the order in by the beginning of the week.

Since I have a 5 speed would I be better of with a CAI or will the SRI do just as good a job?

There have been allot of posts already on the subject. It took me several weeks to sift threw all of them. Maybe this will help you... but I am biased cause I have a RRM SRI right now.

Positives for CAI:
1.) It does provide colder air flow and thus does give slightly more gains. Or so I hear... but I am not so sure.
2.) The piping does look cool!
3.) Great addition for a show car or a road racer.
4.) Girls like shiney stuff.
5.) Sounds great.

Negitives for CAI:
1.) If you plan on going Turbo you will have wasted some money on the CAI.
2.) There is the issue of water getting into the engine if you have a CAI, possible but not likely.
3.) It cost more...
4.) Harder install than SRI (I've done both SRI and CAI, CAI is harder)
5.) I'm pretty sure you have to move the MAS and reset the ECU soemtimes.

Positives for RRM SRI:
1.) Less costly than CAI
2.) Comes with a K&N filter
3.) Cool looking heat shield
4.) Sounds great also. About the same as a CAI in fact.
5.) "If you plan on getting a new hood with an air vent you have yourself a CASRI" (Cold Air Short Ram Intake ) Soneone else said that but it's true!
6.) It's allot easier to get to and clean than a CAI
7.) It looks cool with the big filter there in the engine bay.
8.) No water in the intake unless your stupid and give it a bath while cleaning out your engine
9.) Girls like a guy that saves money on his car and can buy them shiney things they can use...
10.) Save the money on the intake and buy a Short Shifter with the dough you save... I did!
11.) Oh and you can still use car washes that do an under body spray. I like to have my car washed professionally at least once a year. I don't know why I told you that.. I might as well have just told you that I like sherbert icecream... which I do by the way ...

Negitives for SRI:
1.) Um... I'm very biased cause I have one... I don't want to think about negitives... I don't think their are any and thus the reason why I went with RRM.
