Good point. I could see that as having a strain on the sway bar. I wonder why the weak fasteners don't snap first though.

Because the shearing forces required to cut a bolt (those that hold the bar to the perch) are significantly greater than the forces required to torque a piece of 1/8" steel apart. Especially given that the bar has the urethan bushings to give it a little bit of room to move. Greater, too, are the forces to pull a bolt apart (those that hold the perch into the body of the car). The steel perch is the weak link in this structure, really.

Used a Mustang Dyno - stock Lancers run about 87 on those (they're roughly 15% lower than DynoJet numbers). So theoretically, I gained about 6 hp over stock. Granted, I think I have an exhaust leak, so the backpressure loss may have robbed 1 or 2 hp...

PS - stock Lancers are generally 103hp on DynoJet, but that's neither here nor there.

would getting these perches but not getting the progress sway bars increase any handling performance...or do you have to have these and the progress bar? since ppl say the perches are the weakest link..i would think to leave the stock sway bar and upgrade the perches no??

actually, I doubt you'd notice a large difference with just upgraded perches.... but you could be the first to find out $50 plus ship and they're yours

I've heard of people breaking the stock perches with just the stock sway bar, so it couldn't hurt.
