I'm thinkin BadEvo has a very good point... after more consideration I can't see how a stock cobra would be able to beat your evo so bad... I bet he was lieing about mods stock to stock the cobra has a slight edge (specially from a roll) but not a big enough edge to beat a pretty decently modded Evo

Well from what i've seen a cobra about the same mods put down a 7.7 1/8 at the track the a couple weekends back. I was shocked as hell. "Looked" like a stock cobra. My dad has had mustangs for years so I think I would of recognized something that stood out from the normal.

After thinking about it all I could come up with was pulley upgrade and exhaust

Anyways, it's a ****ty track too. I'm only able to put down 8.8 on it, which blows.

Actually Cobra's run 0-60 4.5 and 1/4 mile in 12.7 STOCK. The EVO is barely slower but with all yor mods, what happened. With Exhuast and CAI that hes got, he probably running low 12's. Those cars are soo easy and cheap to modify and its not even funny. Now if had pullies and a different ECU(Chip) thats about 11.7 1/4mile

What would you say you are dynoing at? 380 whp maybe? Cobra's make those numbers stock. With mods on the cobra, of course you would lose.

Wow I am actually suprised by that, might be something wrong, you should trap over 115MPH, and think you could easily beat that Cobra, but losing by 4 car lengths, something may be wrong. Don't get me wrong, the Cobra is nice, but turbo upgraded EVOs should be picking on Vipers, and not getting their asses handed to them by 4 car lengths to a hardly modified Cobra. So if I were you I would not except this as normal.

Man...well, maybe bc his turbo setup is not meant for high end racing. After all, it's barely bigger than stock. I want to hear some stories from the AMS or Turbotrix turbo guys. Maybe it can be a different story with the Gt30 or GT35R. Hopefully this thread is not going to be close.

Racing a Cobra in their sweet spot is a mistake. Sounds like he is pullied and predator tuned. Race him from a dig not a roll. Our slight turbo lag and gearing gives them a huge advantage from a roll. From a dig the script flips. Getting that 470 whp to the ground is a biattch. On pump gas 91oct I figure your at about 340-360 whp so he should own you from a roll.

my buddy has a new 03 cobra, they take a good amount of abuse, are fairly cheap, go fast in a straight line, last time we were at the drag strip, his car went 12.6 @ 120mph with a x over pipe, exhaust, intake, and pulleys, on pump gas

another thing to add, they rattle like a *****, the doors are about to fall apart, same old interior design dates back to 1996, not comfortable seats, its a muscle car, not a refined sports car

something similar happened to me with an RS6. Hey that is just the name of the game, there will always be someone faster, or that raced in a element that favors them.

I went up against a 04 cobra (supercharged) with full exhuast (no cats) and an air intake.

We only went from a roll from about 15 MPH to mid of 4th(not sure what MPH that was)
That's what torque will do for ya. You have what...maybe 330lbs of torque? and it's not all at once, it takes a bit to build. Then you wanted to roll against something with at least 500lbs of instant torque?

That *was* an arsh-whuppin!

My friend asked the cobra owner to race from a stop but the cobra owners pu**sied out and gave the typical rwd v8 owner reply "let me go home and put my slicks on first". I'm sure the Evo would have killed him from a stop.
Lol...another tale of torque.

There is no "pu**sied out" - he knows where and how to race, it was the Evo's choice to run where it did. A SC'd V8 is a monster...just ask MBZ

I sure hope he's putting down more that 330 tourque with that BR440. Hell I'm putting down 343 with the stock turbo.

The Cobras are definitly no joke.
A close friend of mine has an 03 and we go at it all the time. When he was stock and I had only my Vishnu TB I could get him in the 1/4. Not by much though.

He now has a full exhaust, pullies, intake and drag radials and I have an off the shelf xede with the TB and its not even funny. He now kills me everywhere. Stop, roll, whatever. The torque that car puts out is unreal. I was also surprised at how well the thing handles. Not trying to be a Ford cheerleader, but the Cobra definitly deserves some props.
