Very dissapointing.

I have bushur stg 4 with BR 440
vishnu dyno tuned flash
21 psi to red
exedy twin plate clutch


I went up against a 04 cobra (supercharged) with full exhuast (no cats) and an air intake.

We only went from a roll from about 15 MPH to mid of 4th(not sure what MPH that was)

All I have to saw is he beat my *** hard. Wasnt even a close race. I would say about 4 cars ahead at least.

We pulled over a talked for a bit and I said I missed 2nd just so I wouldnt be so damn embarresed from getting my *** handed to me.

I guess things would have been better if went from a launch but oh well.

Anybody else have any other experiences with the new cobras?

 

they are quick from a roll for sure from about 20-90mph they are quite impressive I haven't had a chance to race one yet but I did take one out for a test drive great for a straight line but the cars suspension felt like crap it was soooo loose compared to my Evo I felt like it was ganna drift all over...

 

that sucks man. sounds like you need to pump up the boost!

 

yeah... I forgot to add. we were at about a hundred and up came a stop sign he went half way through it skidding and I stopped nicely before the line with room to spare. LOL.

 

Yea your brakes are about 10x better than his stockers

 

more boost...... ouch not on 91 octane.

to add even more to the story his friend was in the car and has a modded supra and they just got done racing and blew his engine up racing on the freeway going 160. He said he ran to lean.

 

Wow surprised !! Well on a roll you give the advantage to the cobra but lets say hes putting down 360-370 to the wheels you should of been pretty close...


If it was a light to light race you would of had the upper hand.

I think you should of won with the new turbo upgrade ,

I know those cobras are no joke...

yeah I figured it would. He got the 1st jump but still 1st through 3rd he just kept pulling farther away. In 4th I started to catch up but then ran out of room

 

But still for a 4 banger to even hang with a super charged modded V8 in a straight line is pretty good... Just out of curiosity what are you runnin in the 1/4 mile? I wonder if he has other mods to his car besides exhaust because stock the Cobra runs about 13 flat with open exhaust probably shave close to half a second off but still your car I would have thought would be in the 11's

 

havent ran at the track yet I mainly race at road course hence the smaller of the 3 turbo kits.

We talked for a while after and he told me all he had was exhuast and air intake. Looked under the hood and didnt see much, but he could have cranked up the boost. who knows????!?!?!??!?!

I am sure if we launched I would have betean him pretty bad

 

I have a friend with a Buschur stage 4, BR500, fully built motor built by Buschur, Buschur stage 3 head, AEM stand alone tuned by Buschur, 26psi on race gas.

He raced a 03 cobra with basic bolt-ons(pulley, chip, exhaust, intake) putting down about 470whp from a 30-90 mph roll and and the cobra pulled about a car on him. I was surprised as hell.

My friend asked the cobra owner to race from a stop but the cobra owners pu**sied out and gave the typical rwd v8 owner reply "let me go home and put my slicks on first". I'm sure the Evo would have killed him from a stop.

 

yeah.... are cars really do suck unless we launch them. OH well they were meant for turns anyways.

lemme ask 1 question, how do u know he was stock? Do you know what the stock SC pulley looks like? an bassani x pipe and exhaust with a pulley upgrade on those cars makes a huge difference. I think he may have BS'd you on the "stock" story.

 

True, He would lie to make you feel worse, SC pullies makes a big difference on those cars...

When I race my friends of a friends SC cobra it will be light to light

I raced my buddies stock cobra non supercharged from a 60MPH roll- and he got smoked bad ....this was before my cams....


Supercharger added on those motors turns into a straight line beast, they say its the next supra who knows, I can respect those cars speed but I hate any rustang...2 Of my buddies own them 1gt and one non supercharged cobra

tel him to race you light to light or... or autocross event
