I saw an article on a Japanese magazine where they tested a heavily modded JDM cars against an almost stock 996 GT2 (chipped) at Sugo circuit. The Porsche lapped the track at 1:42 while the Sun auto's Cyber EVO8 did it in 1:27! Though the EVO probably has about $100K+ in mods.

So I guess EVO with $20K in mods should hang with the GT2.

 

Last week, I trounced a brand new Porsche 911 carrerra with my EVO from a slow 5mph roll to 100mph........ If anyone cares.

Doesnt matter how hard you try. even if we somehow got our evo's to go faster than a GT2 we would still be in a Mitsubishi and we cant compeat with that beautiful Porsche badge

Yes, I admit we can beat most sports cars. In my Stock evo here is a list of cars I've beaten,
and I am not a super driver, a lil above average at the most.

Stock Evo Vs :
BMW M3 - beat it to 110.. had to slow down cuz of traffic, but i bet it cud take me after that.
C55 AMG - DUH UH HUH ! worthless waste of metal.
CLK Kompressor - OWNED it. No competition.
Audi S4 - no competition from start...
Audi TT - when u beat a car from zero to 60 by a cars length.. its shameful to race it further
Porche Carerra4S - Good fight. more or less evened out in the end.
Porche Carerra - Kept ahead by about a cars length to 100mph.
Porche Boxter - Another worthless waste of metal.. just the badge thts all.
Porche Turbo - Just for the heck of it.. got my royal *** handed to me on a platter.. was NOT fun.

Stock Evo Vs :
BMW M3 - CRAP CAKE... thts all i can say.
BMW Z3 - cant find one that wants to race.. go figure..
Audi TT & S4 - Anything a stock evo can own dont desrve to be raced again.
BMW Z4 - Beat it with 2 passengers in the car.. again.. the road was at my advantage..
BMW M5 - ALMOST got it.. was about half a car ahead till about 100 but after that its all for v8s...
CLK 55 AMG - Nice ride.. Launch got me ahead n kept pulling to about 2 cars length.S
S55 AMG - Intersting one.. handles like ****.. got it on a curvy road...
Porche Carerra4S - Still a decent competition off the line but 21lbs boost is too much for it.
Porche Carerra - YUCCH ... no use wasting gas on these..
Porche Boxter - AHA.. This time the guy said he liked my body kit after i wasted his ***..
Porche Turbo - Just for the heck of it again..... got my semi royal *** handed to me on a platter.. but still it WAS HANDED TO ME (with a lil more dignity this time).
Porche GT2 - FURRRRRRRRGET BOUT IT... i aint even telling u guys bout this.

Well that is my experience of wht the evo is capable of currently... i know you may have ur own experience that differ from mine.

No amount of money is going to get the good looking girls into your passanger seat vs a GT2.

On the perf front, yes it can be done, and yes it's not a lot of $ compared to the purchase price of a GT2, but on the other hand, you could probably sink $15K into a $2K Datsun 240-Z and be faster than a GT2 too...

I had a chance to play with a 996t at VIR and all I can say is I got owned (he was modded also i.e. ohlins c/o and more power). My Evo was stock except for a flash and while I was waiting for the massive amounts of body roll to come under control he was three corners ahead.

The porche handles beautifully and unless you do some serious suspension mods good luck hanging with one on the track. But I did wax all of the 350zs there though ::shrug:: I shall continue to beat up on cars in my own price range lol

 

Well for a lot less than price of the GT2 my car easily beats it .... buy my car you can beat a modified GT2 in a straight line... all you need in my car is suspension and tires because they are still stock...

I was checking out the Dupont registry, I think is was called, sports car performance comparison issue. They listed the Evo FQ340(not a 100% sure which FQ). Reviewer said, that on the open road a Porche Carrera GT, wouldn't be able to shake it off its tail.
