Was wondering your opinions on the new Scion tc. I'm considering selling my current car and buying one. My selling points on the car are: Toyota quality rocks, proven engine ( camry 2.4 vvt-i since 00' ), coupe ( have always wanted one ), I like the styling, and the fact that Toyota is marketing it for the tuner and offering various parts for the car made by major names such as, eibach, hotchkins, momo, team dynamics racing, etc., oh ya the price.

 

It's one of the best cars I can think of for the price. The looks and quality are appealing. Thinking about getting the supercharger?

 

you can't beat the price and when it comes to looks it resembles the G35, so that's a plus. It has more power than the lancer too, right?

 

Yes the super looks tasty! Yum, a TRD super covered by a warranty.

 

Only when dealer installer.Dont expect the supercharger for at least 6-9 months though.Other than that you can't beat it for the price.So far we have not had any problems with them,except for a sunroof rattle.Japan made and quality that can't be beat.Best car for the $$$$$ out there.BTW,I am somewhat biased in my opinion as I work for TOYOTA,but own a Mitsubishi

 

heh, I saw a tc on the highway the other day in NJ, They are nice cars, a little bigger than I thought though, but not bad.

I'm selling my Lancer sometime soon and either gonna get a RX-7 or a Scion tc, though I'm leaning towards the RX-7 atm.

Supercharger won't be a TRD unit but a Vortech centrifugal type.

They chose this due to the location of the intake manifold ( pressed againts the firewall )

With the Vortech they can place it in front of the motor for easy access and instalation.

Expect these units at a dealer in Nov. from what I've heard.

my friend has a white tc and i really like it. the wheels that it come w/ look real good, plus there r alot of up grades that u can do through the dealership that won't mess w/ ur warranty. i would say go for it.

 

I am interested but I will probably buy from Lewisville Toyota. Yes I do live in Arlington, TX.

Overall it's definately a great car for the money. Here's the tC's pros and cons in my book:

Pros:
- price for what you get (though beware of options/accessories)
- big and torquey engine for a 4 cylinder in the price range
- looks good (not great, but good)
- multiple sunroofs
- stock MP3 deck (why oh why are they so uncommon? good call there Toyota)
- optional stock sub
- factory upgrades which (supposedly/hopefully) don't void the factory warrenty
- nice interior for the price (it doesn't compare with that of a luxury car of course, but for $17k it's definately pretty nice)
- nice stock rims

Cons:
- coupe (I generally prefer sedans, they're just much more practical for me)
- stock suspension is a little soft for what's billed as a sporty coupe
- the stock ride height is too high (I'm usually not one to say cars should be lowered just for looks, but the tC's stock ride height really makes the rims look small and the wheel gaps look big)
- the stock deck doesn't have a any knobs, even for volume...wtf? (that seems like a no-brainer to me)
- issues with the multiple sunroofs (IIRC neither opens, and as someone mentioned I've heard of sunroof rattles)

The tC wasn't even close to coming out when I bought my Ralliart, in fact I might not even have heard of it then. If I were shopping for a car now though I'd definately take a good look at the tC. I'd probably still get a Ralliart, but I think my priorities and yours differ. For one, I prefer sedans, while you want a coupe. I think the sedan vs coupe difference is what would make most people buy one over the other if they have a preference. They have very similar engines (same size and almost the same hp and tq ratings), are very similarly priced (the Ralliarts sticker for more, but if anything they're probably cheaper with the discounts now), they're both Japanese, I expect them to both turn out to be reliable cars, and last but definately not least they're both good, fun cars for a not too painful price

 

love it....lots of car for the price. My little bro is looking at cars and we went and shopped the TC and the new Mazda 3's and although we both agreed the Mazda 3 was our favorite out of the two the TC is nothing to sneeze at. They look really good, have decent performance, tons of TRD goodies you can bolt on, and you get Toyota quality and good resale value.
