I only had a Vishnu XEDE chip, dyno tuned, on my then stock Evo and I was out one day when this ugly little spray painted colt with a muffler and stupid wheels, buzzed me, I thought , fine I'll drop it to 3rd and buzz back, All of a sudden he starts pulling away, I though , what the hxxx!!!.

I caught him and he was laughing , we pulled over. He showed me the engine. He had some how stuffed a 1G with a sixteen T turbo (my six key is broke now, stinkin' fantastic!!! :-(

Anyway he had a boost cntrlr , and had stripped the inside to bare metal. He also had a NOS bottle , yet to be hooked up behind the driver seat. He was from the local DSM chapter and was building the ulitmate sleeper, soon to be come a strip car. He said the same thing of course. The weight ration was the key. He would only run from a rolling start with me cause he knew that I'd kill him from a dead stop. The one guy is right, you can get away with a lot less HP and Torque if you have a thousand pound advantage. I could lighten up my load a lot if I just laid off the pizza and ice cream, instaed of looking for ways to lighten up the Evo.

speed is great but personally what impresses me the most is when a car is fully loaded with all the options and addons and can still pull great times. a striped down car that is bare metal + seat + engine that runs 10's isn't near as impressive as a fully loaded comfortable daily driver car that looks good inside and out that runs 11's

They had a 4 cylinder shootout a while back in a Car and Driver magazine.
It had a few of the top RSX Type S with modified K20a engines. Some were
N/A and some with forced air. I think one car was putting around 260 whp. It still didn't come close to the EVO because it has such traction problems being a FWD.

Oh noes, the Evo is teh lose!!!!!1One..... I have a video somewhere of a local Civic owner (goes by the name of Cheesefrog) beating a Viper. Big deal. Stripped out hatches with engine swaps aren't that difficult to make fast. I don't see why everyone is calling BS.

However, I'd rather drive my Evo than a car that sounds like that Civic uke:.

In the video, the evo didn't even gain up on the truck in front of him. That was either staged or that kid didn't know how to downshift, and shouldn't be in the evo. just my .02

When they first start and the camera man looks back at the evo after they pass him, the car that is behind the evo seems to be gaining on it which does not make sense if they were "racing"

they need to post the whole video, the clips they are showing look way too staged, in the last part, the evo wasn't gaining on the 18 wheeler infront of him at all, so it doesn't look like they were racing. rather just the civic gunning it with the evo filming.

I agree, dump the same amount of money on mods into the Evo as whats into this Civic and itd be a much different story.

Looks staged, but who cares. The Evo is much better to look at and alot more fun. Plus I see 20 stripped turbo civics a day. That civic wouldn't hold a candle to a lot of guys Evo's in this forum. Did anybody notice the two guys is the Civic were so serious they looked retarded. Good for a laugh.

I wish if my EVO was there. My intake would have sucked his K20A and my exhaust would have shat it haaaaaaa. Why does it say stock ECU in the video??? you cant have stock ECU in a civic hatch for a K20A?? you need an RSX ECU atleast. The RSX puts 170 to the front wheels on a dyno jet. I can see this civic holding with the EVO but not passing that fast. Anyways, nice civic for sure but lets all remember we have the LANCER EVOLUTION.

because that ugly hatchback is the optimal year. the EK hatchback, which is nicer looking in my opinion, is heavier and runs on a different chassis than the EG. the EG's chassis(which the ITR is based off of) is well known to be better than the EK's.

i think people just need to realize that it COULD happen.

there are an INFINITE number of variables in any race, ESPECIALLY a street race.

want to watch something more impressive?
