K20A = RSX Type S engine. This is not your regular b18C1 (or even b18C5) engine swap. Putting the k20A requires a lot of extra fabrication to get into an EG6 hatchback. Yeah I realize all this means bunk in this "debate", but my point is the engine is a performer and it's not just your "typical" civic hybrid.

Evo- 3200 lbs + 300 (2 people)
240whp/240wtq on a dyno jet (my guess @ 22psi)

Hatchback- 2200 lbs + 300 (2 people)
190whp/130wtq on a dyno jet (again, my guess)

Keep in mind, the Evo ain't a highway drag queen. If this was from a stop, the race would've been a lot closer.

just to let you and everyone know that a k20a is a jdm type r motor man..i raced a rsx with a k20a type r swap and man did it walk me at fourth gear..their gearing is really good specially the final drive..hey i admit i lost..he had a race header cai exhaust..he just walked me and my evo is bone stock!! well not now of course..later guys

In other words it wasnt a civic that beat the evo. It was just a civic shell. Thus, why i wouldnt care if i got hosed by a car with an engine swap.

An Acura RSX and Honda Civic are more or less the same size anyway, so there would be no serious advantage. Anyway you look at it, it's still only a 200hp engine. Maybe if you were to put an S2000 or an NSX engine...now we're talking.

Totally agree...strip an Evo to bare metal, see what happens, but not our style.

I can see this civic holding with the EVO but not passing that fast. Anyways, nice civic for sure but lets all remember we have the LANCER EVOLUTION.
True also. Civics are a dime a dozen. You're not gonna impress anyone by saying I have Civic. I know people who would rather drive a nice stock vette than drive a Civic, regardless if it runs 11's.

Wink

We can take porsche's at the track but lose to modded civics from a roll.
Therefore honda > porsche.

Let's try that video cut one more time for real this time!!! Let my drive my evo 8 against that hatch from a stop, a roll, then on the road course, hell we can go offroad rally style if you want to take the lowered hatchie on to the dirt road!!! Who will win??? Hmmm Dont get me wrong I love my 91 Honda crx si, its got a fully built turbo gsr motor and will own a lot of unsuspecting dsm's on the road, but it was very expensive to build!!! Its fwd and needs slicks at the track to hook up, has torque steer, Its gutted, needs lots of maintence!!! It handles ok. Its more of a straight line car. Now the evo 8!!! I never had so much all around performance and fun with a car before in my life!!! Any car that has the potential to run 11.5's in the quarter with stock turbo, street tires, daily driven, full interior, A/C, pulls .95g's on the skidpad gives Porches, Corvettes, Vipers a lesson on the road course and daily driven has got my vote!!! Once you go awd you will never go back to fwd. Man I can't remember when was the last time I drove my Honda!!! Hey lets make a evo8 vs. civic hatch w/swap video and post it on the honda/acura forums!!!! heheh...j/p...But this time we don't have to fake the whole thing!!! My Honda/Acura buddies are going to hate me for this!!! I always show up in my evo8 when we hang out and cruise while they drive their jdm hondas and acuras. They give me that aww man look!!! IMO Mitsus and Hondas are in different classes. Only you can decide which car is for you. Everyone has their own opinions and tastes Take cares and be safe. Keep on the track!!!

I think the civic would win but not by that much. You have to remember an engine swap is a major mod to the stock car. Let me show up with my evo and let him see the gases coming out my exhaust all the way to 150mph.

You can't believe everything you see, and we all know bad driver can make a good car look real bad. Not saying this is the case in this situations, but there are so many different variables when it comes to racing. But just looking at these two cars, there is no way that a Civic HB with just a K20A would pull on an EVO like that, especially a modified EVO, unless an unseen variable came into play. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that a K20A HB is pretty damn fast, but come on, let's not be foolish and gullible.

Is it just me or did any one else notice the red necklace with the silver heart hanging around the Evos rear view mirror right after the Civic drives past and the a$$ clow with the lop sided hat gives them the cool guy look? Its either not his evo and he stole it from his mom or they are total homos. Just thought I would bring that up as I was confused when I noticed it.
