why is it stupid? is it not true that the mentallity of the srt4 owners is that their car is better than anything else on the road because they have the most hp per dollar? i know that i'm not the only one who's encountered this species of human being

 

you buy a car because you like it. it does not depend on people who own the cars. every forum has die hard fans, its just natural. we have evo owners also who feel that the evo is the fastest car out there.

 

i agree. i dont know how youre going to let other people who dont even know you have a say in what you drive. ive seen some pretty pathetic lancers on here. ive seen some grandmas drive them on the road. UH OH..i better switch cars because uncool people are driving them.

 

i just don't want the same label that srt4 owners have... if a more mature crowd owned them or a better manufacturer produced them, i'd invest in one.... evos are too rare in my area so we don't have a bad rep...

Buy what YOU like, not what others think is cool or what others might associate you as.

If you buy what everyone else likes the only label you'll get is a "poser"...

Buying what you like is easier said than done. I'm 45 and would have bought a Neon SRT4 if they'd made it look like an ordinary Neon. As much as I like the performance they offer, there is no way I'd drive either one of these. The guys as work would ride me all day. There's an Evo in our office parking lot and they laugh every time they see it. Shame, because the Neon could have been one of the greatest sleepers ever made if it were'nt for the 7th grade study hall styling.

 

to me the SRT-4 is the "poser" version of the evo. its for the buying segment who cant afford the real thing. thats just my opinion.

 

thats funny cause i know people who laugh at my car and i start laughing at them, i mean they dont drive the only imported uni-body car with an aluminum roof available in north america and also one that they only made 1000 examples of. i continue to laugh at them then i ask them what they drive. i then laugh some more.

 

Do you know how easy it is to find neon parts? You can make a sleeper too easy....

i did buy what i like... i had the money to buy an evo, so i did.... i also bought the evo for more than just performance... i bought it cause it's a rare car and makes little kids smile when i pull into my subdivision... i bought it because of the heads it turns and the usefullness of AWD... and yes i care what people think, i'm around important people throughout my community all the time, i can't be driving a neon when they drive vettes, vipers, etc .. once you grow up you'll understand that life is longer than 1/4 mile...

 

Had the Evo8 been out a year or two before the srt was released your statement might have relevance but the fact is they came out at the same time. Around Jan/Feb 03.

Plus, the srt concept dates back to November 1999 where it was shown at the SEMA show. Back then it was supercharged with 208hp.

Yeah, it was made to be a evo wannabe...

 

Glad you cleared that all up. Its obvious you've got some self confidence issues where you need to buy "cool" cars to be excepted in society. Such a shame. And I'm sure the kids in your neighborhood aren't smiling because of your Evo. Their probably laughing at you...

Do me a favor and please give your Evo to someone who desereves it and who will appreciate the car for what it really is instead of hoaring it around as some status symbol.
