My friend is who is driving a 2005 volvo S40 T5 stock, is claiming to have beaten an evo. They were at the track and they did a 20 roll, yes they did a 20 roll on a quarter mile track, ne ways he claims to have killed an evo from a 20 roll. He also quotes "evos are overrated, they suck from a roll". So what im thinking is he is BS or this evo driver doesnt know what hes doing. O and I didnt metion that his Volvo is automatic. Gimme some feedback, i really would like to send him a link to this thread to really show him whats up. He is really ignorant, i use to have a 1998 integra type r but wrecked, so now he claims that he couldve taken it with a breeze. sorry this is really random and typed during class. please respond and give me ur opinion.

Dunno.. I'd have to call BS on your friends part. I've been to the track many many times and I've never seen a roll-on race on a 1320! If it happens, I'd be interested to know where, but I have my doubts.

As far as him saying the evo is overrated.. OK. We're all full of shiz from time to time; this was just his turn.

 

A 20 roll on a drag strip? Hahahaha, that's the funniest thing I've heard today. Either you put that in so the thread wouldn't get locked or your friend is a tool. Why don't you race him and find out who's quicker instead of bench racing?

the s40 t5 is powerful at the high end.. only one way to find out

 

At a dragstrip, you can't roll 20 mph. I don't there there is enough room for a rolling headstart.

Of course, you can roll the start before the other person set up and be the laughing stock at the track or get yelled at by the track officials.

 

We have a 2004 V70R 6-speed (as well as a 2003 evo 8), "the" performance flagship of the Volvo line, 300 hp, 298 lbs of torque, driver adjustable suspension, AWD, HUGE brembo 4 piston calipers on ALL four corners etc. etc. etc. and it is NOWHERE near as fast as the EVO, not even close! The performance of the 2005 S40 T5 is not even on the "R's" level let alone the EVO.

 

s40 t5 does quarter in 15 seconds. What high end? 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and that's with 6 speed manual!

I've seen s60R done up with increase in boost, no spare tire, weight reduction, I/E/H, and still got beat by a geo on the track!

It tried to run an Evo and you could probably fit a Semi truck between the evo and the s60R.

Run him for $6000, tell him, cause you could run him and rape him.

 

Those S40 T5's are nice cars, but plokivos is correct with his numbers. All the major magazines have it as under 7 sec o-60 and around 15 sec 1/4. maybe high 14's with a manual and a perfect launch.

 

i drove the exact car that your freind has, and now i own an evo, i probably wouldve gone with the volvo if they couldve got a manual, but the salesmen said they wouldnt be here for a few more months. the volvo (although a great car) comes no where close to the evo. put the guy on the tree. as far as his acura, that is the funniest thing i have ever read. come on.

 

LOL!!! NOT A CHANCE, The fastest Volvo is the S60R and that wont come near and EVO either. Ive had an S60R for 2 days and driven EVOs plenty of times and not a chance. The S40 T5 is a high 14 sec car, like 14.8-14.9 and EVO is obviously low to mid 13s. The S60R is 14 flat and still not a chance

 

yeh, those volvo kids are worst than those people who drives 01' vw GTI VR6 who lives in Gurnee IL with 312 posts. lol
