I was just wondering what the sentiment was around here. The car seems to be nice for dragging and I can't imagine what Lingenfelter will do with it. So, what do you all think? Looks like it has nice potential to me.

I'd love to have one. Since they use those cars for V8 Super Touring racing in OZ they can be made to handle too which is what I like. I'd love to have some V8 grunt and still be able to corner well with independent suspension.

Performance is nice, but styling is too bland for such a car IMO...looks like any other generic Pontiac out there.

I like this though because while cops target evos they won't notice the GTO. I am a car nut and sometimes I don't even notice a GTO until the last second. It seems so stealth, and has very impressive performance with potential that has yet to be tapped into.Originally Posted by BlackLab

You got a point there - it is a nice "sleeper", and that does have it's points. Being the same engine as in the new C6, I would bet there'd be lots of mods available (for the engine at least) in no time.

I seem to be in the minority that loves the look. The LS2 makes it all the better.

I really want to drive one before I can say na or ya. The styling is bland and when your up close looking at the car, it seams that it's built well. But for 400hp it kinda slow?

After driving the Evo I cannot picture about driving any other car. I have about 400 WHP and I tuned the car and balanced the engine and did the whole works. This car would rape anything and everything in it's path. I could not picture going down to a GTO. Just my opinion. Also, selling cars for GM made me change mind about buying any cars from them ever. All vette owners from 1998 or so are in trouble. Only the ones that race their cars on the Hwy or street. When they bring in the cars for service; the BLACK BOX they have in their cars tell the tech. exactly how fast they drove the car, how fast they took turns and etc.... Yes every single car from GM has that..... As a sales man, I am only alowed to disclaim that if a customer knows what the heck he is doing when he is buying a car. So these are the reasons that keep me away from GTO or any other GM products and the second is...... After the EVO is modded there are not any American Cars to challenge the EVO. All the American cars are good for is only straight line and they don't even do that to good. So is the GTO with 400 HP worth it. TO me as a sales man yes. To you as a consumer? hahaahaha Come to me and I will sell you one.....

I was considering one when they first came out but they look like a Grand Am to me. The GTO is lacking muscle car looks. I think they should bring back the SS Camero in a 68 body with 400 hp!

The GTO is a great buy in a larger rear wheel drive performance sedan. I agree it's too heavy (just like the E39 M5), but the 400 hp will make it move. Motor Trend got 107 mph in the quarter mile so the top end acceleration is quite a bit better then our Evos. If I didn't want AWD, I'd have been looking at one instead of getting an 05 Evo.

I don't know, from the inside, I really hate the GTO, but from the outside, everytime I see that car, it makes me want to get it.
And the LS6 engine isn't that bad at all on that package.
