It's posts like this that give import owners the "stupid kid" rep on domestic boards *sigh*

Looks good but selling a $50,000 Stang isn't going to be easy. Remember it's still a ford.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the new Z06 at or near the $100K mark when it first comes out.

Thats what I thought it would be as well, but someone else on the thread stuck it to me and posted a link saying it would be ~$35K, which isn't unreasonable at all if you ask me.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'll always place Japanese build quality higher than US build quality.

And yes, I've owned plenty of both to know the difference.

The Cobra is still way out of the ZO6's league....The Shelby will be also....The new ZO6 will have a top end of 200MPH..

The new Shelby will be nice....but nothing compared to a ZO6..

Exactly, for the price they are gonna sell this thing, it will be the best deal of a sports car you can get. Everyone here thinks it's a pos drag car or somethin, but obviously nobody knows a thing about SVT or Carroll Shelby. How about all the road race wins that Shelby got in his mustangs in the 60's and 70's? How bout the fact that all SVT cars have extensive chassis and handling research over all other fords. I can see this car being a helluva performer on the track as well as the drag strip. Besides, they are selling it for around $40k? You can't even get a base C6 for that let alone the $70k Z06. And you'll be able to buy 2 of these things for the price of a viper coupe.

All in all, this car will be a superperformance bargain which I would be happy to buy. If that thing is around 35k, I would def. put it in the running for my new car along with the Evo IX, G35, IS300, and Subaru Legacy GT.

(all of you guys are saying Ford quality sucks? My dad has had many F150's and they last forever. If somethin does go wrong, easily covered under warranty. I love the Evo as much as anyone here, but how many of you can say that about your car and mitsu??)

They had to do this or else there fastest car would still be running 13.8's in the quarter and be left behind by not only the likes of Chevy but also companies like Mitsu. and Subaru also. Trust me I am not alone in seeing it this way.
You sound just as bad as the Honda boys. You do know that if the EVO didn't have the turbo it would have a hard time getting into the 15's right?

And what is wrong with a manufacturer using a cheaper engine and supercharging it, over another manufacturer building a more expensive engine with larger displacement that is naturally asperated? They're just two different ways to skin a cat. Personally I'll take a forced induction motor over NA any day. Nothing like being able to add 100+hp for less than $2000.

Who are all these critics of Fords performance? Last I checked the Ford GT humbled the best of the world at 1/2 to 1/4 the cost. Then there's the '03-'04 Cobra that was refered to many as the domestic Supra....but cheaper to build. With ungodly amount of power waiting to be uncorked. And now, Ford gives us a car that is likely making 500 hp at the crank and may dip into the 11's stock. You do know that the next cheapest car to offer 500 hp is the Viper, right?

This is my .02, just the way I see there company. Keep the Evo ; )

The '03-'04 Cobra's got the blower after the f-bodies were kill off.

Its not really my cup of tea, so to speek. I have always perfered the sleakness of the Jap two door sports cars to the somewhat large american sports cars. There is and will always be something that feels wrong with this car when its driving down the road....it just looks fat.
This doesnt change this cars great number's, go Ford, although im a Chevy guy myself.

it's definitely a great bang for the buck and i'm sure it'll be just fine in the corners. kinda like the new gto with LS2. but i hate the styling of the gto cause it's just too bland. this car looks badder. it's still very heavy though, so it's not as tossable in tighter corners. personally i don't care about drag racing. i haven't even learned how to drag launch my evo yet because i'm indifferent to it and don't feel like wasting the clutch. nor do i care about loading my evo with mods to compete with cobras in the 1/4. i rather spend the money on racing schools to become a better driver. and if you just wanna go FAST, get this car, i'll stick with my Evo because it does things the way i like to do them. i dunno why ppl rave so much about how great the Evo handles when they spend 80% of the time at the strip anyway? but hey, everyone has a preference.

I bet if you add an aftermarket part on that Shelby your warrantee won't get voided.
