I heard this car is gonna come in right under 40 grand. It prolly wouldnt be the best choice for autocross, but for street use, its killer man.

People ***** about the mustangs handling. 1. Have you driven a new stang? Lightyears ahead of the old one. 2. How much "handling" do you really do cruising down public roads. Some of those 15 mph left handers can be pretty thrilling!

I love my evo, but just becasue the mustang doenst handle like an NSX doesnt mean its not a bad street car. And to say people who buy evos, etc care more about handling than straight line performance is BS. Everything you hear is hp increase for this, or lowers ET by that, etc. I dont see people posting lap times at watkins glen, all i see are 1/4 mile times. When people set up illegal street races, how many of them set up impromptu-autocrosses in an abandoned lot? None. Its all drag racing. Straight line acceleration the first thing people read about when comparing two performance cars and by far the most talked about. Anyways, the new mustang will be sick. And people with evos should not be bashing ford quality. Go check out mitsu's JD power rankings for quality, that will REALLY make you ill.

exactly what i was saying. it's like "blah blah, mustang can't turn, blah blah, gto can't handle to save its life" the live axle might be sucky in the stang (still not sure if this one will have irs), gto however has irs and is stable on bumps and such. again, yes they won't handle near evo, s2k or tiny lil miata-like tossability, but for 3600 lb cars, the won't be bad at all. i know someone with a '00 WS6 with some suspension mods that does pretty good at autox. another guy autox's his '95 camaro, he's great in the corners.
all i ever hear is "my evo beat <car model> at a light/roll/highway". i SELDOMLY see something like "i flew into the exit ramp at 70, the guy in the camaro fell 10 cars behind" (well, i do tell those stories to my friends ) so yea, most ppl on this forum (myself included) don't know full potential of evo's handling, nor can they take advantage of it. maybe just here and there... i for starters, wanna learn it, so i'm going a totally different route with my evo. if someone uses theirs for other purposes - your car, have fun with it.

The more I read about this car and the more pics I look at, the more it's starting to grow on me...I'll take one in blue please!

Here's a cool link to colour the new Cobra any shade you want!

I've been planning to get an Evo IX, but this Ford Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500 , the Pontiac GTO and the '06 Dodge Charger SRT8 are going to be serious competitors for my dollar at the end of this year. The Ford is ahead because it has a 6-speed manual, while the Dodge will have a 5-speed manu-matic, although it's still plenty fast.

The double white stripes are Ford's equivalent to the Evo's tall carbon fiber wing. It's a magnet for everyone to rev at you on the street.

As astrocreep96 said above on March 23rd, that red truck is the SVT version of the 2007 Ford Explorer SportTrac Adrenalin, based on the current Explorer, having a supercharged 4.6L V8 making 390hp and 390 ft-lbs.

Is this Cobra going to have that ugly whip antenna? I think they need to have an option of getting xenons. If I am utilizing the car to its potential and it's dark outside I want to see whats coming up the road.

They don't have HID's on the car? I'm sure that might be an option when the car goes into production.

This is definitely a hot car. I think it will sell just fine at that $40K price. I don't see how any Evo owners can rip on this car. Our cars are basically performance oriented machines clothed by cheap plastic and paint. This mustang actually looks better IMO and is much faster.

FYI: You can't compare this to the new Z06(which will cost around $60K). The Z is going to be able to run mid 11's at 120+mph in stock form and is in a different class.
