Question S2000, Mazdaspeed RX8 or RSX-S

Well, I was planning on getting an Evo, but insurance costs and some other things are keeping me from it (at least until after college). So I have decided to choose between the cars I was originally looking at before I decided on an Evo. My chooses are an 04-05 S2000, a Mazdaspeed RX-8 (when it's released here) or a 2005 RSX Type S. The car that I choose will be the daily driver and ocasionally spirited . Gas is also increasing in price so MPG is also a thing to think about. I WILL be turboing which ever car I get, if that changes anything. Here is what I have so far.

S2000:
Pro's-
Light, nice interior, convertable or hardtop, good acceleration, pretty fast stock, very mod friendly, 2-Seater, open dash for gauges etc.
Con's-
Somewhat Stiff suspension, 2-Seater, convertable

"M-Speed" RX8:
Pro's-
Looks very good, upgraded suspension, nice wheels, upgraded interior, new flywheel, somewhat mod friendly, Bose System, US version will be pretty fast, I heard around 290hp
Con's-
Price, somewhat mod friendly, console area is weird, lack of vision, JDM version is slow

RSX Type S:
Pro's-
Nice clean look, HID headlights, Bose system, upgraded suspension, fixed tranny grinding problems, very comfortable, reliable
Con's-
No mods yet for 2005, insurance, very common where I live (unique is good), can't compete with G35's, WRX, Evo etc. until boosted

I'm leaning towards the S2000, but what do you guys think?

I agree w/ ya. Go with the S2000. Although I would recommend an 02+ so you get the glass rear window.

Oh, & you forgot whats possibly the #1 pro for the s2k...GREAT 50/50 HANDLING

I'll gang up on the S2K, but remember, it's not nearly as practical as the RSX-S or the RX-8.

if insurence is an issue with u, the s2k is NOT the car for u. according to either last year or this year, it is THE most expensive car to insure. i cant remember where i saw that, but i did.

im insured through gmac, 20 year old, 5 points, live in city, i pay 600 bucks every 6 months for my evo... full comprehensive.

id vote for the rsx. simply because it will be cheaper in insuence then the s2k and rx8. and many rx8 owners have had problems with thier car... mainly due to them not paying attention and learning about the engine and the proper procedures u must do etc. yes, thier fault, but problems none the less

Actually, I recieved a quote from our insurace company (USAA) and the RSX was the most expensive to insure, I believe it said the s2k was the cheapest

IMO, i would choose the S2K.....even though u have to rev to like 8,000 RPM to get it going, its still a sweet ride over all. Plus, all the chicks love a convertible! In term sof practicality, i would go with the RSX Type-S.....its still pretty quick with a nice interior......just throw on a turbo and ur set! Not a big fan of the RX-8, but to each his own!

I wold go with the S2K. I agree with the 02+ models, though. The 05's are nice, but I like the higher redline in the first years. My buddy had one with the Stage 6 Motorsports turbo kit & A'Pexi N1 on it, and that thing just flat out hauled! Its a great car, and a hard top is available for it.

if you're still in college I vote "none of the above". Why would you want a car payment why you're in school? That's why so many graduates file bankruptcy after they graduate with a car they can't afford and $25k in credit card debt. Buy something used for cash....worry about hot cars once you can actually work full time and after you've bought a starter home.

id say dont get the rsx. the rx-8 looks nicer and has a nicer interior, but s2000 is a smaller convertible. depends what you really wanna do. i havent SEEN many rx-8's modded in real life, but ive seen them on the net. s2000's are easier to mod i think, and i have seen a few of them.

I agree, seeing is that is why im selling the evo b4 I go into college. But if you wanted to pick on of the three, I would go S2K, however it lacks room and practicality. So if you keep alot of stuff in your car go, RSX. just my .02
