Sold Lancer bought SRT-4
There is a lot of potential for this car but I don't know where to start. My goal for this car is for the drag strip and not for autocross. I have a lot of research to do on what kind of engine mods I should do first.

AGP Turbo upgrade......the kit plus some extras to beef up the drivetrain can all come in well shy of $3000 and you can be putting 400+ HP to the wheels.
Wll it came with a Stage 2 right? I guess start where all turbo cars need to be started. I also head that the FMIC is not so good, it looks big but it really isn't. Full exhaust, Dyno tuning, and so on.
i know about 5 people who have/had SRTs, and 4 out of the five are modded. All five of the people have had what they say are "significant problems" including the stock srt. It just seems like they took TOO cheap of a platform and car and "beefed it up" without thinking of the reliability long term. Of the 5 people i mentioned, three have sold it since, two bought evos, and the last bought a integra type r turbo. Of the two friends who still have the srts, one is in comission. So thats 1/5 buyers "satisfied" at best. I know they ahve SOME power potential, but they are what they are. a neon is a neon. You cant just slap a turbo and frontmount on a lil car like that and expect it to ,especailly when this is practically dodges first "tuner". I think they need to be revamped, and remade many time before dodge solves the many problems. ALSO something has to be done about the arrogant jackasses who drive them (not all, but about 95%).
They are very popular in the chicagoland area. I see them all the time. I like the car but I don't think I could ever buy one. If it was RWD or AWD I would have to consider it. Mopar has a ton of parts for the car and the aftermarket is huge, just like the EVO. The official ratings are 230 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.

I thought these cars were very reliable from what I've read in magazines and various articles.
keep it STOCK, and you will be fine. When people try to push a lot out of them they have problems, the lil engine cant take it unlike the bulletproof 4g63 mitsu has. 100% of the people listen had problems after around 20 or 30k miles, the engine/platform seems to not be able to withstand "high" mileage although it it no high at all. Just treat it NICELY, all the people i listed were arrogant stupid young guys who thought they had the baddest car around, stomping on it all the time. Its like the evo, and most all cars for that point, u treat it right you most likely wont have problems.
I have had many bad experiences with dodge and domestics in general, the build quality is lacking, and they make a LOT of money on repairs and extended warranties.. so i might be biased. For what it is the srt is nice and powerful, but dont abuse it or modify it greatly without expecting MANY problems.
