why r ppl crying about gas prices. this thing doesn't drive them up. think about it, there're only a few of these things in the country and they aren't used that often. so compared to all the gas used by real semis that haul **** around + real military jets + normal cars + stupid gay SUVs + cruise ships...stop biznatching about 10 or so jet trucks, they consume a TINY FRACTION of total gas in the country.
i watched this thing on discovery or tlc before, they have to like shave its tires or else they'll be torn apart from centrifugal forces at such speeds.

I saw one almost like that with 2 jet engines at a tractor pull last year. It was so loud, even with ear plugs in, and ear muff sound proof things, it made me want to go deaf.. it had to be the loudest thing I've ever heard in my life. Rock concerts and working at the power plant are a whisper compared to that. Even with double ear plugs on. Oh, if you were wondering, it did a full pull plus it probably could have kept going until it ran out of fuel. Pure power.

Damn 376mph. If it had wings, that thing would lift off the ground I bet. Commercial airlines only fly between 400-500mph and they weigh TONS. That's just nuts.

from the shockwaves websight... Performance you ask? The ShockWave Jet Truck runs over 300 mph racing airplanes at airshows; holds the world record in a quarter mile for trucks at 256 mph in just 6.36 seconds; and holds the world record for full size trucks at 376 mph as recorded by Guinness Book of World Records. At 36,000 horsepower, the ShockWave has enough power to accelerate at 3 Gs vertical, which is as much as the Space Shuttle!

I think that makes it faster then the one that goes to norwalk...

lol, I never even saw that gas prices comment.. I think you were joking, or at least I hope you were.

Do you have any idea how much money these oil/gasoline companies are making right now? They aren't paying much more at all per barrel to refine any of this than they were 5 years ago when the gas prices were around $1.10/gal. They are in it for the money. Think about it, they are doubling their profits and getting away with it.

I hope Bush gets the new energy bill approved thru Congress to get more oil refineries here in the US, then there would actually be some domestic competition from these foreign oil reserves which would drive the prices back down. It also would approve building of more nuke plants for energy. We need at least a dozen more of them to lessen the strain on our outdated coal fired plants. (also bring down energy bills from having to purchase power from canada, at least here in MI). Our load just in the Detroit area is over 9000 megawatts when the temp gets around 90 degrees. Our plants around here only put out about 7000-8000. That means we have to purchase energy from other plants in the us, or canada, which is more expensive. (I work for the nuclear plant in MI)
