I just recently purchased a new Tacoma and I was wondering if there was any forums dedicated to them. I've googled, but the forums aren't very active. any help?
Also, whats a good brand for a brush guard?

I'm sure the Taco guys have a forum. I seem to remember reading something on it a long, long time ago in a galazy far, far away. Lemme see what I can dig up.

I traded my Tacoma in on the EVO. I used to hang out on www.tacomaterritory.com quite a bit. I had a Manik brush guard on my truck and was very pleased with it.

There's a lot of information here too:

Ever since the 05 Tacoma came out, there's almost no reason to buy a Tundra. They're almost the same size with almost the same tow capacity and the Tacoma is cheaper and gets better fuel economy. Only thing that sucks is, according to the forums, they don't run right except on premium gas.

The base model Tundra comes with the same V6 and 6-speed as the Tacomas, has a slightly higher towing capacity, is still larger inside, has a much larger bed, and is cheaper. My Dad just bought one for just over 13k out the door, you won't get a Tacoma V6 for that price. BTW, his runs fine all day long on regular gas and he gets 21MPG.

Its mainly geared towards offroading, but if you have technical questions that is the place to go for an answer. There are some extremely knowledgable folks on that site.Originally Posted by HobieKopek

I had the same thing (2003, TRD, V-6, 5-speed, ext. cab), but mine was silver. It came in handy for camping and moving, but it handled like sh*t, was dirt slow, and pretty cramped inside (im 6'7"). I also got tired of seeing them all over. Every day I would see at least 3-4 people driving the same truck as me. Same color and everything. Didn't have that problem with the EVO.Originally Posted by SuperHatch

Wow...that's really cheap for a full sized truck, especially for a Toyota. I'm guessing there was a decent sized rebate or maybe he got a '04 model when the '05s were out? A few months ago I was pricing a '05 Tacoma crew cab long bed and it was going to be almost $30k. That's when I stopped and thought to myself...hmm...I can get a Nissan Titan for that. I've been waffling ever since and haven't bought anything.Originally Posted by SuperHatch

The cool thing about the new tacoma is it actually handles and accelerates pretty well. Almost zero body roll on quick turns.

I was pricing everything at MSRP, no rebates. I find it easier that way. Pick a car I can afford at full MSRP with no rebates. Then any discount I get through haggling or rebates or whatnot seems like a GREAT bonus in the end.Originally Posted by Mikebuzzsaw

Well, remember, it's a base model V6 6-Speed, no options at all besides a CD player and AC. Regular cab, long bed, and it has a towing package. That keeps the price down. It is also an 05, not an 04. The 05 is the only year you can get the Tungra with the 4.0 V6 instead of the 3.2 V6. In 06 a new bigger Tundra will come out. The V6 that is in the 05 Tundras is the same V6 that is in the 4-Runners and the new Tacomas. It has somewhere around 260HP and 280lb-ft, which is close to the power output of Toyotas V8. Compared to the 190HP 230lb-ft V6 that was in the 04 and older Tundras and Tacomas, it's a huge improvement. That, coupled with the 6-speed, actually makes the truck plenty peppy and it has enough grunt for towing a car on an open deck trailer.Originally Posted by jw461
