I know the Evo is fast in its own rite, but the new Corvette C6’s are really fast. Any car that can do Nurburgring in under 8 minutes is a monster. The Z06 in stock form can do it in 7:43. That’s an unbelievable testament to its power and handling.

I’m pretty sure it will take me years to learn how to use all 400hp in the C6 to its full potential. I can’t imagine driving a Z06 which is basically a race car. It’s just TOO much for the streets. And with a price tag like that, the streets are not safe anymore.

Also if the number of drivers is "irrelevant" than by your post I'm 5x more likely to die in a car. Sure you're more likely to live in a car crash......cuz you're going so friggin' slow
Dude your fighting a losing battle and your argument above makes no sense. Simple facts are that bikes are MUCH MUCH more dangerous than cars, it's a fact. Anyone with at least 26 brain cells left knows this though wheter they will admit it or not is another story. Don't misunderstand me, I love bikes. Have owned over 25 of them, raced them as a pro, sold them for a living for years. BUT, I no longer own one because the risk is not worth it. I have seen more of my friends die on motorcycles than anything else, period. This statement; "Sure you're more likely to live in a car crash......cuz you're going so friggin' slow" is just plain ignorant. Try running your bike into a wall at nice slow 30mph and see if you live......chances are very high that you won't. On the other hand in a car, chances are very high that you will. Not trying to flame you here but do want to try and keep the facts clear, ride a bike and your about 25 times more likely to die on said bike than you would be in a car, it's just that simple.

Damn.

Looks like Chevy is throwing down the gauntlet. Can anyone step to the new 'vette?

People in cars don't see bikes. That's why I no longer own one. I miss riding but the not the pain I experienced going down to miss some idiot in a car turning left in front of me.

Other bike riders are the only ones who truly pay attention.

Wives and kids also have an influence on this decision.

I agree with you 100%! I don't know how many times I'm driving down the highway at 70mph and there is some poor dude in his bike just cruising along and some azz munch is tailgating him, about 2-3 feet off of his rear tire!! I usually try my best to get in behind the bike and try to keep cars from tailgating them. People just have no respect anymore, damn shame man.

My bike tops out at 199 or that all the spedo will go. The car vs bike this is older than time itself. Bikes are not meant for everyone, but I know very well about people in cars not seeing you on a bike. Try going to a track day instead of street riding, I bet you will stop riding on the street. That is if you haven't...Oh and the C6 is badasssssssssssss

I've done track days and it just makes me want to ride my bikes on the street more. When I have a bike my cars are only rainy day transportation. BTW the new TWO magazine has a shootout with the fastest cars in the world against a Gixxer 1000 doing a 0-100-0 test.....the bike beats everything......in most cases the bike is already stopped before the car gets to 100 mph. I'll never stop riding motorcycles.....I'm just more cautious of cagers.

wish chevy would allow me to build my own on their website

EDIT
I'm just waiting for Car and Driver or any other magazine for that matter to do this comparison
Z06, Viper, GT

Edit yet again:
According to Chevy's site, the Z06 doesn't have a gas guzzler tax. Chevy says "the new Z06 gets an estimated 16 MPG city, 26 highway". That's pretty damn good for a car with 505hp

This car is sick. The fact that it laps the Nurburgring as fast as an SLR and nearly as quick as a Carrera Gt say it all....oh yeah that's on crappy RUNFLAT TIRES. Put real rubber (equal to the super-exotics) and that car is nearly unbeatable. For reference, most C5 vette guys at the ring gained ~30 seconds going from stock runflats to Kumhos, BFG's, etc.

Heard it was a tad too fast for the track..lol.

Here is a crazy statistic for you-- and the link to boot:

In 2004 4,008 motorcycles riders died (up 89% since 1997!!) and passanger car deaths fell 3.2% to 19,091. Driving a car is already the most dangerous thing any of us do each day, yet riding a motorcycle is 26.3 times more likely to kill you! That is just asinine as much as I crave speed. I've got too much to live for!
I feel you. It doesn't matter if your are going 198 in a bike or a car; its not going to be pretty if you have a accident at that speed in either one. I have a 200 mph capable 05' Busa and a very fast evo to boot. Im scared of both but i treat them with respect
