On a Dragstrip will a Stg. 2 w/o toys beat an Evo w/ TBE/272cams/cam gears/255walbro/ Tune

My friend thinks he can take me when he gets his stage 2. all i have right now is a TBE/X-Flash/ Not installed 255. but will get the other parts soon.

He has TBE right now and ive taken him from ever point so far.

I think you got him, but not by much.

 

Without DR you should beat him without too much problems.
If he's got DR, it will be a drivers race, with the srt-4 probably winning.

At the track, I usually get beat by every SRT-4 there that is modded. It sucks.

 

I raced a stage III SRT-4 (that included bigger turbo) when my car had only MBC,3"TB and air filter and we were dead even(30-105mph). The guy on the SRT-4 puts 330WHP and 320LB/TQ , he also runs art thelocal track a 13.4@107 and this race was circulating in two forums:

My car is a 05 so I don't know how to compare your car to my car. I can tell you that my car was dead even with a 03 Evo with a 3"tb and air filter when I was completly stock from 35-105MPH.

So summarizing, I think that you could win but not by much. It should be very even from a roll..

 

There's no way a stage3 srt-4 will run a 13.4

My stage 1 runs a 13.2

I was just at the track wed and there were two stage 2's and one stage 3 and none of them broke a 13.5. granted this was on street tires and they were spinning like crazy.

 

Puhhhllease. I have yet to see an SRT-4 run 12s WITH MY OWN EYES, and I have seen way more SRT-4s try to drag race than Evos. In fact, at one test'n'tune night locally, there was an entire group of SRT-4s (7-8). Only 2 of them weren't obviously modded. Most of them had exhaust and large FMICs, and one even had slicks. Still, for whatever reason (bad driving), none of them did better than 13.5. Were the cars capable of it? Probably. Did the drivers accomplish it? No.

Don't worry, there's plenty of Evos out there that only run 14s and sometimes 15s stock!!! Then, there are plenty with enough mods for 300+whp who can't hit 12s. Driving is a major factor followed closely by traction.
