Poor Boxster

I understand it's a Porsche, and I've driven one and it was fun, but it's not a FAST Porsche. A poor owner of one thought his Porsche was going to go from my right side at a stoplight, get in front of me, and then turn left...but surprise, the EVO doesn't just LOOK quick!

He merged in behind me instead. Poor Boxster.

(as a disclaimer, this was simply acceleration and never exceeded the posted speed limit)

Poor man's Porsche -- kinda

More like a trophy wife's pacifier

They are definitely chick cars (sorry for the stereotype)
All looks, convertible, but respectable handling dynamics -- maybe a stuck-up Miata

I agree. I understand they handle ok and give decent performance, but I could never understand their appeal. It's kind of like driving around with a sign that says "I couldn't afford a real Porsche so I'm driving this". I know it's wrong, but I could never understand why anyone would buy the "entry" level models of high end brands.

No kidding, for that kind of jack, I'd pickup a slightly used M3 convertible.

Another Boxster reference that made me smile:

"A Boxster is like a Porsche with panties." - Ralph Cifaretto, the Sopranos

dude, you should let weak cars pass you once in a while .
I know the boxter is slow. I saw a boxter racing miata once. they were pretty close. I think honda V6 accord can pass them too.

Anyone who says a Boxster isn't a "real" Porsche has no idea what they are talking about and clearly knows absolutely nothing about Porsche cars or their history. Also, the Boxster has won many awards for being one of the best cars in it's class. It's quick (the S has a 0-60 of 5 seconds), agile, and widely considered to be one of the best handling cars in production. That is why the new Cayman (which is a Boxster hard top) is being hailed as a better car and better platform than the mighty 911.

I have a feeling you just read a lot, and haven't actually driven a boxter. You do realize that magazines are bias right?. Boxters are complete dogs, and exactly as everone has stated, they are a poor mans porsche. They aren't even in the same league as the 911, even though the 911 isn't anything all that special either.
