Porsche 911 or a C6?

The Porsche is more powerful, nifty quick. You go to 125mph+ without even realizing it. Handling is superb, altough a bit scarry for you who are not used to a bit of oversteer (rear engine). The steer precision actually feels a bit duller than the Evo.

More power
more torque
bigger brakes
wider tires
lower
wider
even the Evo 6 was faster at the same track than the Evo 9 and the Porsche 997S.
Anyway, going back to the subject. The Porsche 997(325hp) was tested agaisnt the C6 vette, despite the vette havinh"400hp" the Porsche was quicker overall(braking, handling).
I think you should look at having a Porsche instead of the corvette. I also owned a Porsche 5 years ago, it was a 91' 911(964) Carrera 4 (AWD) Cabriolet. The Porsche don't loose any value at all while the vette value drops dramaticaly.
Another issue to remember is that Porsche has 85% of their entire production cars running on the roads.
I don't think that is true about the JD power statement. I looked at the JD Power "Problems per 100 cars" and Porsche was ranked number 2 to Lexus (#1) and Toyota was number 7 I believe... KIA was at the bottom so I am sure the numbering is correct as far as few problems. And as far as the Cayman S, I actually built and priced on on the web site, the only thing I cared to have were the HID's and that was a $1,035.00 option I think. The Cayman S seems to be a Porsche that has a starting price that will possibly finish close to instead of the starting price of others, that wallop you once you get the neat stuff you actually care about. I'll pass of $300 floor mats and $400 emblems.
I'd have to go with the 911 or the cayman. I owned a C5 and it in typical american car fashion didn't feel very well put together, but that isn't the reason you buy a vette. The ergonomics were funky at best and I really just wasn't that impressed with the performance.
Another reason Porsche may be low in the JD power survey is the customers. The average Porsche buyer is different than your average car buyer. They expect everything to be just so. If it isn't you can bet they are bringing it back for work. A squeak or rattle in a $13,000 Kia is no big deal. You almost expect it, hey at least it runs and nothing is falling off. A squeak or a rattle in Porsche is a big problem. I wouldn't pay $75,000 to ride around in rattle trap. You bet your *ss it's going back to get that fixed. It's all about perceived quality.

I don't know I just see the Porsche as something superior, I will never own a Ferrari, Aston Martin etc etc but with a Porsche it almost seems like you have that name, that rep... for less but there just as capable. Is a new 911 Carrera non S, or Cayman able to run with Ferraris? Maybe not comparable but at the track, or just in general power wise?
Although I have a lot of respect for the Corvette the one thing I can't get past is the image associated with it...
Then again if you are actually having a mid-life crisis then this car is perfect

The big complaint so far on the c6 is that the chasis doesnt communicate with the driver.. if people are saying the evo is sharper then the porshes.. i think the vette would feel sloppy as hell in comparison... Id have to go 911 all the way here.. ones still an exotic and the other is a played out domestic
911 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gah!!omfgwtf?
The Porsche 911 is a MUCH better car than the GM junk...although the c6 is a nice vette...its still a poorly produced GM product that will lose 50% of its value in 3 years. The Porsche will not.

Porsche all the way IMO. My friends even wife say the same thing about the EVO JTB..."Why do you want that it looks like a import POS" "It's ugly the interior sucks" "Why not buy a vette or BMW"..................at work there is a new guy who is 21 and has a Honda hatchback with bolt ons. He said what do you drive and I said a minivan for all of my kids, a hyundai for good gas mileage, and a Evo.
The guy had a coronary "AAWWWW Maaaaan you have EVOOO. Awwww EVOOO are awesome" "They have like 300Hp" "AAAWWW man EVOOOO" it was pretty funny you would have thought I said I had a Lamborghini or something.
Too bad everyone doesn't respond that way.

Unless your really intent on climbing one more rung on the social ladder, or are really concerned about driving a car with pedigree, than my vote is the vette.

Price: You are loooking at $70's for a new C6 Z06 or a used 911.
Performance: If you like straight up raw power and speed, go for the C6 Z06. If you like refined handling and ride quality, go for the Porsche 911.
Exterior & Interior: The new C6 exterior looks closer to a Ferrari, at least from the front. 911 is essentially the same classic design. Interior wise, the C6 is a peice of trash compared to the 911.
Image: This one is really up to you. American vs. German. I think everyone knows about the general opinions on this one, so let's not beat the horse.
Personally, I'm all for performance rather than image. Perhaps a few years down the road, that'll change and I'll pick up golf. Sigh.

The image you give when you buy a Porsche is that you're a frivolous twit who could have paid alot less for about the same performance, and that you bought your car cause you think chicks will dig it more.
Why not save your money and stick with the EVO?
That Porsche will cost a LOT more, be more expensive to insure, will get beaten in stoplight wars by the C6 anyways, (which will make you feel great about all the extra money you spent I'm sure) and worst of all, you're going to hate it the first time one of your friends asks you if you like your Boxster.
Plus, if you think that Porsches will get you away from the "mid-life" crisis image, you're sadly mistaken. Porsches SCREAM mid-life crisis.
Keep the EVO, buy a used NSX, wait for the Skyline, buy an M3.... ANYTHING but the Porsche.

Eh, stop light wars... there will always be someone faster. Not the z06 where talking about here... and like I said, there is some crazy weird feeling being in the driver seat of the 911 or Cayman... and you say people confusing it for a Boxster, well what about people confusing EVOs and STis for Jap rice crappy FnF wannabees... there plain old ignorant and I don't care what they have to say cuz theh dumB
