Lexus IS 300?

What do you all think of them? I found a 2001 for $16,xxx with 62,000 miles auto and I am kind of thinking about it. What do you all think of them. This will remain stock so I dont care about how easy it is to mod and what not. How are they on power?

They are slugs as far as power goes. My wife had one and it couldn't get out of it's own way stock but, that's not why you buy one.

It was very comfortable to drive and ride in. Her's was a sportdesign and I thought it looked really nice.

Alot of guys who want big power do a 2JZ swap. Thats what I was actually looking at doing before I bought my Evo.

IS300 is my next car right after college. It's awesome and just slap a turbo or a swap and you're set.

I had one also, traded for the Evo.. Nice car, with a lot of attention to details, but not fast. Quick on the highway, but far from a "fast" car. But as far as ride quality, build quality, performance (standard road performance, not performance driving) it's great. I liked it a lot.

Now, if you're thinking "hey, it a 2jzge, I'll add a T to that and I'm set", then no! To turbo that car is VERY expensive and you loose the one thing that sets it apart from it's piers.. reliability.

Good luck!

The IS300 already has a 2JZ engine, though it's not the same 2JZ-GTE that the Supras have.

I drove the new IS 350 last week. That thing has the kind of power the IS300 should have had from the factory.

He's leaving it stock so the aftermarket is irrelevant.

The new IS is hot. The old ones are really nice, but in stock form not too fast. There are a bunch of turbo'd ones around here pushing over 500rwhp, though...
