Sentra Spec-V

I'm looking at Nissan Sentra Spec-V... what's your thoughts on it? How well does it handle compared to my Regular Lancer? The only reason I'm looking at the Spec-V is the Brembo package... you guys know if it's worth it?

"An occasional problem on this vehicle is failure of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor." - MSN

Cheap, fast, very thin rods, 6spd!, Crappy paint (I guess even worst than Mitsu), blown headgaskets, faulty ECUs, 3rd gear grind, pre-cat, fuel pump, leaky trunk, problems passing emissions, foggy headlights (stock), foggy windshield, itermittent cylinder failure, oil consumption, stock floor mats could get you killed, seats wear out very fast, reverse grind, hard starts.

And then there are others that didn't have any problems. Definitaly stay out of 2002!!! Some guys are on their 4th engines!!!

Funny you say that, my friend had an '02 Spec-V which was great at first. But eventually it was constantly in the shop. At least it was still under warranty. There were times when I'd be riding along and the engine would just die for no reason.

The car is very promising and pretty fast too. With LSD and 6spd it sounds awesome but with all those problems on the record I won't touch it. Blaze, check out this website :http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/index.php?

My nephew has a 2002 that he bought used 2 years ago. That 2.5 is a little torque monster. I think it's a blast to drive. The only problem that he's had was that the dash lights quit working, he got that covered under warranty. Otherwise, the engine and transmission has been working great.

My sister has an 04 that I daily drove while my car was in the shop ... it was a blast to drive and I'd take it over any Lancer ... Handles excellent for a FWD car and yeah the 6 speed plus torque down low is a blast ...! Stay out of the 2002 and I think you should be gravy ..

The Brembo's are great but you can get those slapped onto any car for way less than Nissan charges as part of the "package". But I've seen some Spec-V's that are monsters.

And yes, Nissan paint is utter crap.

If i were you, i'd look at a 2004 spec-v with low miles, you will save around $4-5000, and still have most of the warranty. plus you won't have those New car surprise problems. And I would like to say that the brembos are worth it, but the 2004 Ralliart vs the 2004 Spec v, the Ralliart had better skidpad results. I love the sentra, but don't get it just for the overpriced brembo package. and remember that nearly every car has a laundry list of problems that 'have' happend, but don't 'always' happen

My friend has an '06 SER Spec-V and it hasn't had any problems at all. It's quite fun to drive actually and it handles really well.

Well... I'm debating between the Se-R and the Spec-V. At first I was looking for sunroof so the Se-R was the perfect match. Then I realized the Spec-V had the sunroof and Brembo package so I figured it would be nice to have better brakes as well. The price difference between the Se-R with sunroof and the Spec-V with Brembo&Sunroof is really slim.

Isn't the Spec-V faster than Se-R??? If so Spec-V all the way!

Not by much... the Spec-V has 10 more hp... not enough to make a huge difference. But the Spec does have a stiffer suspension which is somewhat appealing...
