Challenger all the way. I don't know who it was but whoever said that american car companies only get a "right" design everyonce in a while needs to to do some research. First of all Chrysler has been pumping out hit after hit success after success, and is actually pulling the weight from the losses of it's brother company (Mercedes, approx 4billion). First was the 300c, next the Charger, and even the SRT-4. Now if you don't consider those cars hits and A HUGE success, then you know nothing about cars. I mean how much more can you ask (the 300C SRT-8, and Charger SRT-8 get compared to the e55 and m5, for a FRACTION of the cost which are serious european bahn burners, what more can you ask for). THEN there is Ford with the Mustang. What a success. THEN there is Chevy with the new C6 vette which at roughly $60,000 compares to the viper, ford gt and many other supercars. Another great design. Those are just some of the most recent successes. If you ask me I think they're finally getting it right (I agree with the weight loss though).

P.S. I almost forgot but the Cadillac STS-V was able to out do the big gun cls55 in a recent motor trend or car and driver, but couldn't quite edge the m5.

I saw them both at the North American International Auto Show and I must say that I really liked the new Camaro, but was not too excited about the Challenger.

America builds beautifull concept cars and nothing more. When I saw the pictures and read the write-up on the 05' Mustang concept car, I was stoked. I could'nt wait for the Mustang to hit the dealerships. When the 05' Mustang finally came out I was crushed. I could not believe that Ford gave the public a watered down version of the glorious concept Mustang. The concept Mustang was bad a@# from it's fantastic twin scoop hood that reminised of late 60's Shelby Mustangs to it's wicked gear type gauges to it's exhaust pipes that came through the rear valance like the early 60's style Stangs. IMHO all Ford did was took a 04', grafted a funky rendition of the concepts nose to the front, grafted on an even more hidious rear end, put a chessy version of the concepts dash without the cool gear type gauges, and gave the engine about 27-30 extra horse instead of the 400hp supercharged engine the concept had. The 05' was even supposed to have independent suspension and Brembo brakes. If you want to read a little and see pictures of the concept - here's a link.

As far as the concept Camaro and Challenger go. I feel the same way as the Mustang. Both cars look phenominal in concept form but I know the production versions will be watered down with tons of "cost effective" cuts making the cars cheesy and cheap. I'm sorry if I sound like an American car hater but it really pisses me off knowing this great country could build a car like the Mustang concept and instead cut major corners and ruined what could have been an awesome machine that payed real tribute to the Mustangs of years past. It also amazes me how the Japanesse can offer things like Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, and a Momo steering wheel in a $31,000 car and America gives us generic FoMoCo brakes, no name stiff seats, and a generic Ford steering wheel in the Mustang GT which also cost about the same as an EVO. It just don't make sense and is the reason why I'm driving an EVO instead of a Mustang. If Ford would have built the concept - it would be the other way around. I still totally love the American cars of the past (1970 1/2 LS6 Chevelle, Boss 429 Mustang, 1969 "COPO" ZL1 Camaro) and would buy American if this country would start building cars that were worth my hard earned money. The concept Mustang got my hopes up but I was soon reminded that America is dead set on building sub standard cars. I'm sorry but the Camaro and Challanger are most probably going to suffer the same fate as the Mustang.

I love the Camaro. I've owned 2 in the past.

And for the post above mine. Be patient, 300 bhp and the ability to run on 87 ain't bad. There will be a Cobra/Mach I/Bullett in the near future with more power and better design elements. Besides, I've seen a lot of Shelby looking kits on those stangs and they look pretty good (better then stock look).

I personally prefer the Camaro, but that chopped greenhouse will NEVER make it into production. Now look at the Challenger. It's roof is a bit more realistic. I hate the new Mustang. They do nothing for me. Until the big three understand overall vehicle dynamics and apply them to their $30K cars, I'll shop elsewhere.

Well, that chopped greenhouse may make it in to production, just look at the 300C and Magnum. Visibility out of those sucks. Of course, that could just be due to the fact that I'm short...
