I've driven an A3 and was really impressed. It was quick, handled well and rode really well. It feels bigger than the A4 Avant and a little quicker.

Is the S3 using the turbo 2.0 or the six. I'm guessing the 6, since you can't get the 2.0 with quatro. I've been told by a VW/ Audi tuner that the 2.0 has great potential. He mentioned that a little under $2k will net you about 100 hp increase over stock.

my dad just got a silver one today. Really roomy interior with the usual audi luxury and safety. It has that glass like moonroof thingy where you can see outside. The suspension is tight and the car feels like a little tank. It's really heavy and has 250hp. The best part is that as a favor to him I traded in my 04 STI with 30k miles and I will now take over on payments for his 05 MR with only 10k miles The reason he got rid of the Evo is because he said he was sick of people trying to race him and he was real worried about the bad crash ratings the Evo has. He's in his 60's so that's understandable. It's good to be back in an Evo again even though I will miss the STI.

The one my pops got says A3 on the back with Sline badging on the sides and front. It's a 3.2 quattro. Kind of confusing.

yeah, those A3 S-Lines with the DSG and the 3.2L V6 are the hotness....but they're about $40k. Not really competition for the EVO though....the A3 and the S3 are still more luxo-performance......they're not gonna give any EVO's a run unless they get some decent mods.

The S3 is rumored to have a ~270 hp version of the 2.0T (which the current 200 hp one can reach with software and exhaust). There are also rumors of an RS3 with a twin turbo VR6 in the neighborhood of ~360 hp and AWD.

It was my choice since I prefer the newer car and got a sweet deal. The crash tests are bad but my dad is an older dude and he goes through cars like patients. I think it was just an excuse to get a new toy and I it makes him feel better that he's also hooking his son up. This is his daily driver and he babies his 911 T.

I heard rumors that the turbo S3 might make it to the USA, but sales for the S-line A3 have been bad though, so who knows. They're putting that new S3 in the WRC which should be awesome for Audi. They're also putting a V12 diesel in Le Mans which sounds crazy. I drove it today using the paddle shifter and it's real fun to drive. The suspension is rigid but it rides nice and is much more comfortable than the Evo. It's slow and heavy in a straight line. Basically a sporty awd 250hp Golf with super options and luxury. Cool car but not my cup of tea. But if the S3 makes it here it will be like an R32 on steroids with max luxury and safety. The only problem will probably be the price, damm Germans!

Goes through his cars like patients, eh? I'm assuming he's a Dr. of some sort. What does he do? I'm a 2nd year med student and fervently looking forward to when I can (hopefully) afford some fun toys

^^He's a Neurologist-Oncologist and he's also the palliative care specialists for some hospitals in San Antonio(doesn't mind unhooking them). Back in the 80's and early 90's he had allot more toys. Full time race track car and a classic jaguar for the anual Carrera Panamericana(cool event). Then the IRS and the insurance companies came knocking when the boom was over. So no more race cars and helping the economy out(buying nice toys). I think today whatever money is left is in surgery or leaches that sue doctors. My pops told me that he used to have to steal his medical books in a cut out treanch coat he made since he was poor. Made my life allot easier. Good luck with your studies.
