It's done... Ford GT-40

I used to work for Ford, and I think it's a good car. It definitely is better than the Z06 in terms of performance, most magazines think the Z06 is fast but scary because the suspension isn't sorted out. It's not twice as fast, but once you get past $100K you start running into diminishing returns. The GT can be driven fast by just about anyone and it's won practically every shootout it's been in against cars like the Viper, 360 Modena, and Lambo Gallardo. Just because it's out of our reach doesn't mean that it was a mistake for Ford or doesn't deserve to exist. They used some cutting edge manufacturing processes to build the car in incredibly low volumes and IMO they handled the recalls with transparency and as well as they could. Working for Ford, the GT was worth its cost to develop since many of the techniques like semisolid forging and the 5.4L supercharged engine (which will go in the Cobra for $40K) will make it to production models. Also, from the inside, the effect on morale was worth twice the price, for the cost of a relatively small television ad campaign, Ford was able to prove to themselves and the world that they could still build and design a world class car.
