Don't do it. You have the Evo, if you want another car and only want to spend in the low $20K get a used 330i. I have a friend with an STI and he is now looking for a way to get rid of it and get an EVO.

Not that the sti isnt nice, and buying one that has mods already done to it takes away the hassle of u having to do it, but im not sure thats a good thing. "Only 10 times," thats about 8 more times then i have taken my car. Not that 10 is even a lot, but cant really say he babies the car, or believe when he says that, yet obviously goes to the track.
Good luck with whatever u do, but i would keep the IX!

yea actualy with some thinking, it'd be nice to go for another car, say an ap1 s2000 (pre '04 that has the 9k redline). u already have a turbo awd saloon, i'd say go for a nice lil roadster so u can get a balance for ur driving. for dat price u can get a decent 03 s2k with pretty low miles, and s2k is one of the most reliable sports car on the market today. Not to mention it is one of the most fun cars i've ever driven, and i've driven my share of cars. just my 2 cents.

YEah you already have a awd turbo, the evo and sti are like twins, dont get the same car.
If I were you I would get a power house car like a used viper for 25k, or nsx.

A fun 2 seater thats a weekend warrior.

Yes, the 4G63 is nice. No, the STI shortblock does not max out at 400 whp. As you get up around 450 whp it becomes worth it to consider new forged pistons. That is not, however, a new shortblock -- it just requires removing the heads, actually.

To the OP... 320 whp is not far off what is possible with the stock VF39... that green has to be tuned very conservatively or something may be wrong.

19 lbs of boost with FP Green and that setup? I dk man. I know a guy whos got close to that set up and pulling 21-22 lbs. Should be pulling more than that. Has it been tuned? If not It would be out of the question for me. I personally like buying stock and modding them.

I wouldnt by a modded used car personally. Also the #'s depend on what dyno he was on. On the Gruppe-s dyno 320whp is very respectable for 91 oct pump and will get you into the very low 12's even high 11's if you can drive. Browse IWSTI and NASIOC and you will find some good deals.

The STI motors are not weak however the pistons are not the greatest. As long as you got a good tuner you will be fine.

See if you can get a name.. Never tuned an sti out that way. And like someone said above .. Normally get about 370-400 whp on a green on pump. I've come accross a number of people in the past selling their car saying that i tuned it, when i didnt. Hope that helps
