Good or Bad deal on STi???

Hey all,

I love my Evo to death, and I'm looking to expand my car collection. There is an STi for sale that has about 320whp with these mods at 19boost on 91:

FP Green Turbo
TurboXS FMIC
TurboXS Turboback exhaust
Perrin injectors
ACT clutch
Defi Gauges
GP moto header
Walbro fuel pump
UTEC
Eibach Prokit
perrin Catch can
Perrin inlet hose
Perrin Bigmaf intake

The car has 32,000 on it and he said that he has taken it to the strip about 10 times, otherwise, driven it normal with the ocassional punch when an *** pulls up next to him. He is selling it for 24,000. Do you think this is a good deal, or do you think **** is gonna start happening because of all those mods and PSI on an STi? It was tuned by TurboTrix. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Definately i agree with sirloin! I bought my car used of my cousin who babied the car, but when i got the car it started to decapitate itself (spelling?). Anyways i would highly highly suggest just buying a brand new sti if you can get it to 29,000. I managed to do that with an 05 last year so there is some possibility. Also In my opinion, with my own experiences when someone is selling such a cherry ride with all those mods chances are its deteriorating and they want someone else to deal with it. Save the 24 grand and just tack on maybe 5 to 6 more and grab a brand new that you know for sure hasn't been thrown around. I read the new mazda6 speed is supposed to compete with evo's and sti's..consider that hehehehe

the new mazdaspeed6 is far from the evo/sti in terms of performance. it is a nice car with nice interior and ride comfort, but not a performance sedan as the specs imply.

back to the OP: it's almost impossible to determine how the sti will react once u attain it. one way is to ask the seller for all the receipts for all the maintenance done as well as receipts from the tuner. this is what i did when i got my mr2, and with 160k miles on the turbo and the motor as well as being 15 years old, not a single thing has happened to it yet (surprising due to the way i absolutely beat it) other than getting the receipts to have a peace of mind that the car was taken care of (usually if the owner keeps the receipts it's a good sign that they pay attention to their cars, but of course, this isnt always 10000% guarenteed). anyways, good luck with getting the sti. evo 9 + sti = massive amounts of fun

i wouldnt do it.... it sound way to expensive for a ragged out car with that many miles on it. if you look hard you can find sti's with low miles for just over 20 grand. what year is it by the way?

You should at least plan on a short block in the near future...

The STI engines are STRONG!!! they handle a lot of HP like the 4G63's

Thats a steal for that price, and i think he has way more than 320whp.

i wouldn't buy a heavily modded car like that plus has lots of track time to go with it. also, mods dont raise the value of the car either, youd be losing out on money.

I think you've been reading the wrong information, STi's internals start to blow at 350whp. So think about that if you buy it, once you hit past 350whp you might wanna look into the internals.

What year is the car?

There is a guy around Atlanta selling a 2005 sti stock with 5000 miles on it for $25,000. He has too many cars and doesn't get to drive it much, so just wants someone to take over payments.

stock blocks max out at like 400 whp. our engine is way better built than theres.. if he decides to buy it his next mod will need to be a new shortblock...and there not cheap. Cobb stage 1 is 2300$ and its only rated up to 450 hp http://cobbtuning.com/sti/engine-***...er.html#stage1

uuhh, please do some research first. wrx engines can't handle above 400whp. STI engine handle a ton. go on the www.nasioc.com forums. i have over 600 posts, so i have done my searching.

this is from slowboy

"I have been running our bolt on 35R for 8k now, it makes 440 WHP on pump gas and drives like a dream. I drive it 40 miles everyday to and from work, all winter long. Still on the stock motor as well." he is on a GT35R. many STI owners, like evo owners, bolt on that turbo without building up the engine.
