04 Subaru Impreza Sti. Need Help

i currently own a 2006 EVO IX MR, bone stock

i know we are not suppose to talk about street racing, but i just need something answered that i cant seem to get answered anywhere else

i had an encounter with a 2004 STI that the owner claimed was stock

we gunned it at around 20mph and went to about 150mph on an empty highway at 1am in the morning

from 20 to 120, i had roughly 3 car lengths on him
when i hit 130 he was next to me
when i hit 140 he had placed 2 car lenghts on me
3 car lenghts by 145

what im wondering is:

how the **** can a claimed stock 04 STI come back from a 3 car loss and put another 3 car lengths on me from 120-145 mph?

is he lying about being stock?
is the 04 STI a fiend top end some how?
i dont get it

all input welcomed
and dont lecture me about speeding
i just want to know how he could of raped me top end like that

i assumed at first he had nitrous, but im confused now, because i didnt see anything except a BOV in his car

I had an 05 sti that was stock, then with cobb accessport stage1, then stage2 before the evo. It had great torque off the line, good midrange and pulled very hard all the way in to 6th. Not sure what you want to hear, but even a stock or stage1 flash sti is plenty strong up top. A stock evo, regardless of year isn't going to blow the doors off an sti, even stock. He could have been flashed. And at a stage 2 with cobb, the factory catback isn't a restriction and can be left on, so it can be a bit more stealthy/stock looking.

Oh, and a bov on an sti is about as worthless as one on an evo, if both are still maf'd.

yea you got to mode your evo or tune it to spank sti i had an encounter with an sti when i was stock from 65 to 140 and he pulled right about the 110 marker but after my mbc and tune i ran another sti with full exhuast and bov and maybe it was not tuned right but i spanked the **** out of it. STI's suck i have a friend that has a downpipe, up-pipe, and mbc and he spanks stock sti's all day. Stock for stock sti's have more power so its really gunna show at speeds over a buck.

I'm sure they give awesome bogging and stalling increases.

I'm not sure how he could had put three cars on you after you put three cars on him, stock for stock, your IX should beat an STI, unless the STI you raced had some kind of stage upgrade you should pull on him at top speed, from sources from the streets, stock IX pulls on stock STI near top end .

I forgot to add that the STI is also a powerful car pound for pound also.

im assuming my IX with 7500 miles is running top notch

but i think my stock boost gauge is off

because when i give it WOT in 3rd or 4th gear, its pretty much at 1.0 bar
5th and 6th gear is like 1.3 bar

sometimes it tapers to 1.2 in higher gears or .9 in lower gears

i dont know...mechanical gauges...

that sti encounter is going to make me lose my mind, i should just mod the **** out of the evo and say **** it
