2007 Lingenfelter GTO.... NEW Z06 EATER!
My inside scoop... A little bird who is married to a person at lingenfelter a daughter, told a family member of mine some news today.
If everyone doesnt know already, lingenfelter was sold a few months ago, the name was kept but the business itself was handed over to a new company.
Anyways, from what i am hearing, lingenfelter has a deal with GM to produce possibly 2000 GTO's in 2007 with a lingenfelter engine in them. As far as i was told that the GTO was finished as of 2006, but this is the word on the street. And its a very reliable word. Now for the year, it could be a 2006.5 maybe im not sure on the exactly, and as for the HP im not sure on that either yet. I do have a family member that works there, and may be able to get GTO huge turbo kits/crate engines a little cheaper though
SOOOO everyone who just bought a 400HP GTO, watch out, a 505HP one may be peeping out on the streets, just looking to DESTROY THE NEW Z06!!!!!
Man, im thinking of selling my EVO for one, but then again it will be way more money than a stock GTO.. prolly like $42,000 to compete with the new GT500...

at 505hp the gto would still be quite slower than the c6z. look at the gt500, and how the _base_ vette wiped the floor with it. IIRC the 400hp gto has the ls2 engine in it, which is the engine outta a base vette...
if this gto does come out with 505hp, it too, like the gt500, won't be able to touch the c6z. it should be able to beat the base c6 in acceleration (handling doubtful), but not the c6z imho.
btw ur first sentence makes no sense whatsoever, i tried really hard to understand it, but i couldn't

imho it is going to be fast as hell, expensive as hell, and probably still heavy as hell... BUT, 1 bad *** goat
Buy a used GTO, they're really reasonable, built a C5R 427 TT (Twin 35r) and you'll have a combo capable of over 1000+whp in a nice docile everyday driver. All for about $60,000.
Or you can save $5000 by buying my brand new C5R 427 that just got finished. At 8.5 CR you should be able to run 20lbs boost easy.

Stock STIs and EVOs can keep up with or beat a GTO despite being down 100 horsepower and being AWD! EVO/STIs have slightly better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times while the GTO gets the advantage at higher speeds and higher traps(103-104 vs 106-108)
A good example is the new GT500. Many figures I've seen(Just talking 0-60 and 1/4 mile times) are around the same as a stock EVO or STI(Low 13s, high 12's. 0-60 in mid 4s). That's not impressive when the car has a Supercharged V8 with 200+ horspower over a small displacement boosted 4-banger. It's all about the power to weight and not just gross horsepower. Seems very inefficient to me even though an STI/EVO would get decimated from a roll on race.
So I don't think a 500hp GTO is going to scare any Z06 owners. I think a 600 horse GTO would be comparable to stock Z06, so it better have at least 600 horses to be on the Z06's level.

Meh, Lingenfelter is for guys that don't know what to do with their money. If your looking to mod a GTO, I have three letters for you;

For the money, there is not a more effective way to make big power with quality products, without spending a fortune.

IMO GTO = poor man's Vette
If the Lfelter GTO is going to be factory backed then you can forget it being more HP than a Z06 at a lower cost. No Way would GM destroy the "best performance bargain in the world" image of its beloved z06.
That said, a 505HP GTO will be eaten alive by a Z06. Even at 600 HP, I'd still put my money on the Z. GTO's stock are SLOOOOWWW, considering the numbers on paper. I have a couple friends with GTO's (05 and 06) and it is a joke against my stock turbo EVO. In fairness, however, I have encountered one at the track that trapped 135mph+.

Did anyone else read about the MTI GTO in one of the car mags a couple months ago, I want to say it was Motortrend? It was a GTO w/ a single STS remote turbo making 900hp for less than the price of a new Z06. Theres some vids of it around online.
