Well, it depends on how long you plan on keeping the car. If u plan on keeping it for a long time, I would probably go with the Cobalt SS. I am sure it is easier to make the Cobalt faster since it has a supercharger to begin with. My girlfriend has an 06' RSX Type-S and it seems very slow. On the other hand, it is very nice on the inside and put together well. Also, it is the last year for the RSX and I am sure you can sell it in a few years and make some money on it.

Good Luck!!!

I'll go with the SS S/C. Better looking than the RSX IMO, color-matched leather interior, optional Recaro's. I think the Cobalt is the best bang for the buck.

I'm looking for a car in the 20-23k range and I've narrowed my list down to these 2. So with that said I'm just looking for opinions. I would probably be keeping the car for a good couple of years.

Sorry, but I'm bias. I just don't like Domestic cars.

Well I lied. I do like the old muscle car like Shelby GT500, 67 comero and stuff like that.

have you guys seen the cobalt that GM set-up to run track. Redline tv did a show on it and I think ive seen it in a mag. Those cars are great platforms. Easy to make trackable and very fast. Even the stock suspension is decent.

i have heard rumors of basic bolt-ons on a chevy cobalt SS allowing the car to run high 12's it is what i have heard and i have read it on here somewhere a couple months ago. if i had to choose id say the SS but i would rather have an SRT-4 for that price range

I would do an SI before the the Type S if you want a Honda. I've seen some threads where they are puting down over 200whp with just a catback and an intake.

If you don't care about honda I would go either used 04 SRT-4 or the SS/SC

I'd have to go with the RSX Type-S. It will at least be worth something when it comes time to sell it, runs OK, looks better (IMO) and, has a decent aftermarket.

The Cobalt SS isn't bad but, I just can't make myself like GM interiors or styling.

I'm with Purecoda on the GTI. Turbo engine, nice styling, and good performance.

And if you're looking for stupid cheap performance upgrades you can crank out - get ready for this - 252hp and 303ftlbs with a $600 chip. Yeah. Now that's bang for your buck!
