350Z Track beats an MR around VIR?

I thought they were testing PERFORMANCE CARS, not luxo-rides. The Vette won like all the performance-oriented events.

I've driven a C6 vette and was not impressed at all. Sure, it'll kick my evo's *** in a straight line from a roll, but the steering feel and handling feel of the car sucks *** compared to the Evo (in my opinion).
The 911 and F430 placed higher because of how they FEEL, not because of pure numbers. A M3 may be slower around a track than X car (evo, 911, whatever), but it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive! What would you rather drive? A car that's fun? Or a car that's faster by .2 seconds that's a chore to drive? I personally didn't like the way a C6 felt at all; I don't care how fast it is, I wouldn't drive one.

The only reason I would want the 430 is so I could sell it and buy a Lamborghini Diablo VT with the money....or if the right Miura came up.....Hmmmm....

Magazines will never give the Vette its due simply because it's a domestic machine. Think C&D is going to let a $68,000 Vette beat a $200,000 Ferrari? C'mon now.....we know who's making the big donations to C&D.
The Vette has now slaughtered the Viper, the Ferrari 430, Porsche 997 Turbo, Performs right on par, if not slightly better than the Ford GT, etc.
I'm not a Vette fan, but the Z06 is a serious force to be reckoned with. It's only going to become moreso after Chevy unleashes the 600+ hp version they currently have in the works. It will more than likely be called the "Z07" or the "Stingray."

^ I actually believe that to be true. Probably like you I've never got to test drive the new Z06 but a good friend of mine who owns one (and actually tracks it) and who is also previous evo owner (many evos actually) said the exact same thing.
This is in regards to steering FEEL not handling.

I liken the Evo steering feel to that of a go-kart; almost like you're holding the tie-rods in your hands. It's the closest thing I can think of. The steering feel of the Vette feels like holding wet noodles in comparison. Where you feel everything through the steering of the Evo, I didn't get that feeling in the C6. Obviously, the C6 still hauls ***, but it doesn't communicate the same feelings.

I'm no pro, don't get that idea, but unless it's a cup car, or something crazy (carrera gt anybody?) You normally don't see anybody making up any distance in the corners. It's down the straights with a mesely 300 whp here. You loose 10 cars down the straight, and pickup 5-6 of those in the next corner.
Again, if we're going from a stock to a stock car, obviously the evo is even MORE underpowered etc, but i was assuming normal mods.
Who here drives a stock Evo, raise your hand
Why do you folks get all worked on who won? First of all, like somebody else said, it's a magazine article, sometimes they don't test drive brand new cars but cars that other magazines had on their tests before, or in other words, nobody knows what condition these cars actually were in.
... and then, who really cares which stock car is better on a particular track, at the particular time. Just because Z was faster once, it doesn't necessary mean it's always faster. Do the same test after rain or in rain and it'll be seconds behind the Evo.
Don't know about you, but I bought my Evo because I knew what it can be done to it with very little money. For me, it was all about the platform. Out of the box it's pretty good but it's far from perfect. With very little money, you can make it a monster, which certainly isn't the case with Z or most other cars.

There's a reason that the Vette costs $47,000 and the (most expensive) Evo costs $37,000, and it's more than just a name.
Not to sound argumentative, but the Vette is the superior car under all circumstances except for Rally.

It also has AWD so again it's at a disadvantage with power being lost through the parasitic loss of the drivetrain.

Your Suby has much better build quality than any Corvette AND will out handle the C6 with proper setup. Go to the track and find out for yourself.
Corvette has always been status symbol rather than a uncompromising sports car. I have much respect for the Z06 though.
