That's only two examples.

With the STi, it appears that Subaru threw in just enough to get the job done.
Most power I've seen out of a VF39 has been 325whp with meth injection as well.

yah you wont see more than 325 on teh stocker, it just isnt big enough.

subaru also didnt make the sti in mind for people who mod them. A stock sti has great low to mid range grunt but just falls off up top.

nothing a 20g cant solve haha.

I don't have a problem with that in mine. The lack of mid-range is normally cured for me by a downshift.

I'd agree that the STi has a nice low-end, but if you've ever rode in an Evo IX, the low-end is stronger than that of the STi. There is no lag. The torque just hits you like a ton of bricks, whereas with the STi, you do end up waiting a moment (or 2...).

Really? The sti imo hits right away with the torque while the mitsu is more smooth.

Although I haven't ridden in a ix with the mivec etc. I've just drivrn my brothers evo 8 so that's probably why.

Plus he's stock haha

Once you have full exhaust and a tune on the EVO the boost hits very hard. In my car its rather violent, I love it!

I always feel like I'm tapping my foot waiting for the rush. In my buddy's IX MR, it was instant....of course, I was riding passenger, so I don't have any idea how long his foot was to the floor before we took off, but it felt instant to me.

Haha I hope you don't go rotated, you'll be tapping your foot for a while lol.

Flash to cobb stage 2 and I hear spool is about a 1000rpms faster than stock.

I find the STi to be much more daily driver friendly. The 2.5 liter coupled with a small turbo makes it spool faster than my car when I drove my buddies 06 STI. My car is a bit laggier, but when the boost hits, its very violent (which I love anyways).

I don't have a turbo upgrade in the future plans for the STi.

However, I may have a "turbo upgrade" in the plans for my Camaro.

Sti's are not the same as the Evos in that sense. You can't just put a mbc on without a tune. You really don't need a mbc unless you are runing a bigger turbo kit anyways. With a good tune you can adjust the boost.

As far as the stock block holding 550whp... I really can't say since I have heard stories of Sti's with that kind of power but it can't be reliable. Plus, thats like saying that the stock 4g63 could probably hold 700whp but for how long...?

Nothing good. The ECU needs to be tuned for an MBC. What happens is the ECU is programmed for enough a/f for 14.5 lbs of stock boost. As an example, if the boost is tuned up to 17 lbs, the motor is still only getting enough a/f for 14.5 lbs, which of course in turn leads to a serious lean condition.

MBCs and Subarus are big no-nos.
