I think all transmissions are prone to breakage regardless of the make or model of a vehicle, but I don't personally know anyone that's ever had a problem with an STi/STI transmission.

WRX owners complain a lot about transmission problems, and what happens is the transmission case literally splits in half right down the middle. It's a 2-piece unit that's "sealed" front to back.

Ever done a model car where you have to glue the transmission together? That's how a WRX transmission is. I think on the new ones the transmissions are a little bit tougher, but I'm not sure how much tougher.

I don't abuse my car, so a transmission failure doesn't worry me much.

I abused my tranny plenty when I had the Sti and it took it like a champ. I only was putting down 310 to the wheels though so it wasn't that much power.

Thank God for the two-step or I would already need a new clutch and possibly a tranny for my Evo. Stock clutch, 40+ launches, 18K miles, and still strong... Knock on wood...

It's not like 310 whp is anything to sneeze at in a 3300 lb vehicle. Figure with the drivetrain loss, you were probably making about 360-370 hp at the crank. Those are pretty strong numbers....

I doubt this kid know whats his talking about.
People would ask him about his STI and most likely he'll be like

"uhmm.. it dyno at 600whp at the wheels DUDE!!!"

What have you done to it?

"oh u know, bigger turbo and a tune"

What's your AFR ratio?

"it's good"

LOL
