Junk yard vehicle legal?

Hows it going fellas, well theres a Datsun 240z at the local junk yard that I have had an eye on and am wondering would there be any way to get a title for it if it has none and make it legal for street use. I am considering buying it for a project car to eventually give to my dad for his B-day. I have a full shop to work in and plenty of money/resources for it, just trying to find a cheap starter car. Any input for be helpful. Thanks in advance

You should be able to go to your local DMV/SOS office and get the info you need to apply for title. Shouldn't be too hard since you'll have the invoice from buying it at the junkyard.

Looks like form VSD-330 is what you'll be looking for.

I guess its a salvaged vehicle so I would have to get a licensed rebuilder to sign off on it then get a saftey inspection at the DMV
