What other cars did you consider before buying an EVO?
Just wanted to know what were some of the other cars you considered before buying an EVO? Obvious car that I can see many choosing would be the STi/STI (for me that was not the case), but what were some other choices? Just want to see what cars are often cross shopped with the EVO.
For me it was a rather strange list (I have no problem going used, especially if it is a car I really like)-
2002 Mercedes C32 AMG
2006 MazdaSpeed 6
1998-1999 3000GT VR4
and that's about it when it came to serious consideration. Although I must admit I was 99% sure I was getting an EVO, but I still wanted to keep my options open, even if it was slightly open.

STi
Evo
WRX
G35 Coupe
GTO
Mustang GT
CL230 (Coupe) Kompressor
Chose the STi because I've loved'em since first reading about'em in 1994, and because I liked it better than the rest.

I was looking at the so-called "90's Japanese Supercar's" because IMO, they still are some of the best looking cars out there.
I was lookin' at:
FD RX-7's (Couldn't find many, the ones I did were auto, and I decided I didn't want to deal with a rotary)
MKIV Supra's (Manual-TT's were hard to come by. Inflated prices. Wanted to do asthetic-work right away. IMO looks like a clown-fish stock)
SC300 5-Spd (Wanted to do asthetic-work right away, interior/exterior looked dated)
NSX (Hard to come by, freakin' expensive)
300ZX (Ended up not digging the look, not as "classically-styled" IMO as the rest)
Out of the "90's Japanese Supercars," I was looking at:
WRX's/STi's (The face-changes/multiple rim sizes killed it for me)
Evo's (New-model envy... Too econo-box for me.)
240's (Wanted to do too much right away, I.E. Kouki front, SR20DE-T, etc.)
S2k's (Too impractical, couldn't find much)
I ended up with a 3000GT VR-4. I loved the looks, and felt that the power was there to tide me over for awhile. (I've had the car for 2yrs this summer, and I've only now started getting the mod-bug) It had custom/replaced leather, and only a few things I wanted to change (body-wise). I've had my ups and downs w/ this car, but everyone has those.
Honestly, I would've gone w/ any of the cars I mentioned, but overall, I'm happy with my decision. It balances out the performance/luxury factor for me.
