Stagerred setup on a RWD car for track

Does running wider WHEELS in the rear on a RWD vehicle help in handling? I know this setup assists in drag racing, but wondering if it is even worth doing it or is just for looks on a track?

I would imagine it would be harder to brake traction which would help a lot, and would cause the point that the end slips out to be further out. Once at that point though, you'd have to gas it to maintain control =\

In addition to more rubber in general it reduces oversteer.

some guys with evo's run wider rubber in the front for auto-cross so they can hang the back end out a little easier.

Every rwd sports car has wider tires in the rear. With the high power cars, they need all the traction they can get.

for the most part, when you go with bigger tires it will help handling.
