Varrius.....what were your impressions? My old roommate picked up an 06 IX over a Shelby GT500.......he loves his evo. I'm sure the Shelby is quick....wonder how they compare in your opinion. I've never driven one hence my question. Thanks!

Well, being that in the USA racing around corners, etc isn't very popular, I would have taken the GT500 over an Evo. Everyone with an Evo who mods it usually gears it for the 1/4 mile anyway. The GT500 would easily be a handler with some suspension work, but as it sits, it's a boat. It can drift into turns, however, as opposed to engine braking, then accelerating into the apex. I drove one pretty hard, the salesman was scared to death. It runs high twelves stock EASILY. That's with it burning out and not locking up right away. Could you picture slicks?!

How much over MSRP were they asking for it. Around here at least 10k over but they are all gone until next year.

I like 'em, tried to get one of the first this summer but with the feeding frenzy going on with so many wanting the car, I would have had to pay as much or more than I did for the SLK55 I ended up buying I didn't want one THAT bad.

We got a black gt500 delivered 2 weeks ago. I got to do the pre delivery inspection and test it out for "defects" haha. Its definatly a fun car, got lots of hutspa! Two days later it was sold for 65 grand! For that kind of money I would buy an evo and really work it over and still have money left over.

The GT500 made 810 rwhp with just a blower swap and everything else stock

When these things come down in price to $2-3k below MSRP ($40k) it will be awesome. Just swap out the blower, throw on some tires and run mid 9's

One of my ford dealerships called me and told me I was pre-qualified for $50,000 dollars. I told them I'll take you up on that offer if you got a Shelby GT500. They got a Manager on the phone immediately but he was unable to locate one in Colorado. What a shame I didn't realize it was this hard to get this car.
I saw a black with gold stripe GT500 down the highway and flagged the chick to pull over. Luckily she was headed to the same place (circuit city). I told her I would give her $45k for her car, she was like "no way, I paid $65k for her". WOW! That's alot, I would've gotten a Z06 instead.
