??? carmax experience

i'm thinking of getting an STi but they are only offering $8500 for my 04 r/a with 22000 miles in showroom condition. they say try carmax. any experience with them? has anybody gotten close to the nada(kely bluebook) values? will the rrm sri make any difference in the price when they pop the hood? thanks.

Carmax sux... They don't like lightly modded vehicles (intake & catback) and tried to offer me less than 2500 of kbb. They even tried to tell me they were offering me kbb. Like I hadn't already checked.

remember that carmax's whole scheme is to buy a car for less and sell it for more. so it would not make sense for them to give you bluebook.

Isn't that every dealer's scheme?

He likes STi's maybe? whats wrong with that? Personally I'd buy a used STi b4 I'd ever buy a used evo...they just seem more reliable...

I personally wouldn't buy either one of them used. We all know what sorts of histories these cars normally have. People beat the Hell out of these cars, and then they unload them.

It's one thing to purchase a used Buick Lucerne, but purchasing a used performance car? I think not. If I had a hard-on about "needing" an AWD performance machine and couldn't afford an STi/STI or an Evo, I'd buy a WRX. But then again, I'm patient and like to get exactly what I want, so I wouldn't buy anything. I'd save my money until I could "offset" the higher cost with my downpayment.
