It's not about "oh that would be sick swap to do"

if you're doing simply because it's "sick" then you're a dumb ***

why not RB25DET? or 26DETT? stay with Nissan with your nissan.

What is your budget on this project car?

You will need A LOT more parts other than the 2j engine and transmission. Since your friend has one, you should ask him the process of the swap/fitment issuse.
If anything, you need to find a whole 2j front clip to make the swap a bit easier.
There are many 240sx with RB swaps around now, so the supply and demand on that is greater than the 2j, you should look into that.

If you really want big power, swap a built LS1 in that biatch. A built LS1 cost about the same as a stock 2j motor & trans. And beware of buying engine and tranny *online* - don't take anyone words for it, check/test it yourself.

This kind if project car will run you at least 12K or above w/o labor,

1989 240sx = $2000
RB26DETT front clip = $5000-6000 price varies on condition
2J front clip = $3700 - $5000 price varies on condition
Parts you need to make it fit, start, run = $3000 -4000
you do the math

so ur saying that a swap with the ls1 engine would be good?... I'd like it to be a good handling car, and able to perform well on the drag, circuit?

So can a built ls1 do that?.... I mean... Don't you think it'll be kind of heavy though . since it's a v8 .. compare to ... let's see... 2jz? 20b?...

but i'd like to know more infos on the ls1 as well... since i might want to try the american power too?.

thx

The LS1 + t-56 is about 520lbs. A 2jz-gte + getrag is about 750lbs.

The LS1's physical demensions and weight are two reasons why they are a popular swap into so many cars.

+1

LS1 has a great powerband for track, drift and can easily be built to 600hp w/o costing you an arm & leg. It's just another option for you. Either way, all those motors are big power makers.

Parts for 2j & RB ain't cheap tho, LS1 yeah
