Better keep a trunk full of extra oil cause youll need to add some every time you get gas.
Maintanence is the same as any other car for the evo....

Get wrx 06-07 they have a STI engine with a smaller turbo. David bushur is making parts for them and the stage1 is comming out very soon. The stage 1 will make the wrx faster than a stock EVO or STI at least on a straight line.

Rx8 looks good and has good interior, but that is it.
Horrible gas milage because the lack of torque - you must spin the motor till the redline so it moves. It eats a lot of engine oil too. I know someone who has rx8 with greddy turbo kit and the mpg is under 10.

I wouldn't but rx8, get a nice used Sti or Evo or even wrx.

Jeremy Clarkson seems to disagree with most of you:

He LOVES it.

and i think jeremy clarkson is a bonehead

he hates the c06/z06 but once the stig put down the laptime, it whipped many cars costing much more.
he hates the 350z but i think he's being a lil picky

personally i dont value his opinion

power wise its crap, but overall handling and driving exp were pretty good for me. I traded it in for the evo back in 2004 and lost 10K on that car! it depreciate so much the first year....

any performance car will have more up keep, it just part of have a fast car. it is give and take. you should also look at insurance cost on the cars you like that will also affect which car you want.

If you actually saw any of Jeremy Clarkson's bits, you'd see that in Heaven and Hell, he absolutely adores teh C6 Corvette. He then even goes on to love the z06 MORE! The 350z review was abit "lets hate it cause its not British," but his points were spot on with pretty much everything said about the car. Even if I were to love a car, I'd change my opinion in a second if Clarkson thought otherwise.

Jeremy Clarkson doesn't have to pay for the maintenance.

I used to sell them for a living.. Drove them everyday.. Wouldn't suggest anyone wastes $30,000 on that car. buying one used for about $17,000 i could see. I would buy the Speed 3 before the 8 or the speed 6... just my 2 cents.

As for maintenance i wouldn't be worried about that when buying a used "sports car" because no matter what you buy you are going to encounter something that empties your pockets.

Get evo/sti or keep your SRT4 Oh btw did you consider insurance? thats a positive when mazda released the 8, was that it was a 4door and the engine was sooo tiny... as for the evo/sti better take out a second loan for insurance...
