+1!!!!

I don't think it's even justice to compare the rx-8 to the FD rx7 or even the boxier version. Either way, the rx7 is better by a land slide. I've heard way too many horrer stories from my mits/mazd dealer about engine swaps around 50k on those cars. no thanks. As for the cost of owning an evo. Man, it's not that bad unless you are beating the **** out of it on a daily basis. but then again, what car wouldn't crack under that kind of pressure? Seriously, don't get the rx-8. If you can find a used rx7 to mess with, go for it. Or on a different note, have you considered a used M3?

As for all the top gear references... for those that don't care for their opinion.. good for you .. have your own thought. seriously, you're the one who's going to be driving the car anyway. Not them! And for those that just can't do without their opinion.. they ranked the Evo way WAY higher than any rx8 vett stang fairlady... etc etc. AND higher than the sti last time I checked (quality around a lap anyway). But in the end.. YOU pay for it so YOU'd better love it.

I traded in my 2005 Rx-8 for my 2006 Evo IX MR. I loved the Rx-8, the handling was unreal, and the turning radius is way better than the Evo, but I was having issues with loss in power and a strange marbles in a can sound at high rpm's. The Rx-8's rotary engine sacares me too cause no one services them, they just replace them. The Mazdaspeed 3 is a way better carm IMHO, and the Evo is better than all of them, and the best car I've ever owned.

I had a 2004 ''nordic green'' RX-8 for 49,000 miles. I loved the car and it did not give me any problems. The only down side to it was that it didnt really gain any power from any of the modifications I had done, and I did everything that could be done besides dropping a 20b motor in it. The car was a blast to drive, my favorite car to drive in a long time. If it had the power of the EVO has I would have never of sold it to get the EVO I have now. I miss my RX-8. And yes you do have to keep an eye on your oil with the RX-8, but other than that I had no problems. It was a blast.

My Mother-in-Law bought one (NEW '05) back in the summer - it's been flat-bedded 3 times now. New ECU, oil pump, and I don't remember the other incident. She is still under 5K miles

A good friend who is a Lemon Lawyer - said they worked out all of the bugs from '05 on - previous years, however, a Nightmare
