I believe they have a new rating on hp. I believe other car's hp dropped as well. I think the tl was one of them...

I've read somewhere in a published magazine that lots of the imported cars had a lower hp rating and strangly domestics had higher hp rating using their new testing method.

Yeah, I've heard the same. It's not that the new STI has any less power, it's just a different hp rating system that they're starting to use. But that's Subaru for you: Over promised, under delivered.

Old review but on any case and after spending a lot of time on nasioc I can tell you that perhaps the power is greater than ever. The new heads outflow the porevious ones by far, the turbo is a bit better with a bigger hotside and the 4th gear now can reach up to 117mph from what I read.

Also, the 07 STI are breaking into the 12's from the box with a good driver.

I have a local tuner that specializes in subarus and some of the dyno numbers they have been seeing on stock sti's are very suprising I can assure you that there is NO possible way that they are making any less HP

Well my buddy just bought an 07 STi and he took me for a ride and it really didnt impress me at all! : ( i thought that it had a too much lag from the factory and didnt hit hard enough when the lag was gone! i really think that my 06 evo is still faster when it was stock! we will just have to see, when they start to get modded and what they run! until then, i really wouldnt be worried about the STi's!

Carlos, turbos are the same, but the 07s have bigger wastegate (thus the name vf40) to help them hold boost better up top. Gears on the 07 are longer than previous year to avoid that stupid 5th gear shift event when the car is bone stock.

^^^ thanks for your clarification, I knew they did something on the turbo but I wasn't 100% certain of what. Changing the subject, do you still have your Evo 9 or is sold? signature says sold.

Take care.

07 STI ecu is smarter than previous years. Same mods on 04 and 07 untuned the 07 will have 20whp and 50 lbft torque more than 04. Then when tuned on stock turbo some 07 STI's have seen 420lb ft of torque and 350whp. Down side is suspension gets heavy stamped controll arms vs forged aluminum.

I think we have all heard that rumor. I am yet to see a time slip or independant dyno confirmation of an STI making 420-450 lbs trq with a flash and catback like the rumors...

I am about to send it in to Mythbusters.

It will be the "S T I Don't think so" eposode.

You are welcome to prove me wrong.

I think the 07 is actually a vf43 with a larger hotside

No one has EVER posted any dyno sheets, track slips or videos to prove this so called "improved" power on the 07.. I know a guy that has an 07 STI and has tbe, header/uppipe, flash and hes tuned for 100 oct and he got raped by 2 Evo Ixs here with bolt ons and pump gas!!

sure, 350/420 tuned with stock turbo/mild mods. Once gain, big STI numbers. But we all know how those big, fat numbers translate at the track, don't we?
