STi Test Drive Today
I just got home from a test driving an '07 STi from Palm Beach Subaru in West Palm Beach, FL. The car was a gray color right out of the showroom.
I took around a few lights for a total drive of 2 miles. The car was very smooth but I noticed that it didn't have full tq until around 4500rpms that is kind of hight compared to the EVO.
The shifter felt very light and so did the clutch pedal, I think that is because of me having a short shifter and an ACT 6 puck in my car.
The car was smooth but very flat. It was all for fun though. I told the salesman that I was looking to buy one around May in White or Black so they just let me test drive it.
When we got back to the dealership, the salesman was like "That is the best I have seen this car driven in all the test drives I have been". I dont know if he said that to boost my level up and buy the damn thing or if he meant it, although I did have him **** his pants.

hahaha, well I was taking wide right turn at about 40 and accelerating out of it so the car started to slide and I was counter steering a bit to keep it going. It was pretty fun.

why am I lucky? I asked the salesman if I can push it a little bit, he said sure go ahead. That is exactly what I did. I didn't take this car every gear to redline. I would do a nice pull up to about 5800.

I'm not saying " you". I've been selling car for about 8 year's. You would not believe the people that you run into that can not drive that think they can . There are alot of moron's out there that try to learn how to drive on a test drive. In 8 years i have yelled at 3 customer's a made them pull over and I would drive back.
I think the sales guy was blowing smoke right up you know where. I find the STI terribly boring to drive in stock trim. The car will understeer the front tires clean off and a moron could drive one fast. The Evo at least has sharp steering and dependable brakes but alas it also suffers from the usual front heavy awd understeer syndrome (yes I know it can be fixed). From a styling perspective the Suby is a complete waste of sheet metal and I would only drive one if everyone spontaneously went blind so I wouldn’t be caught driving one. Buying an STI over an EVO is the equivalent of self-gratification, sure it’s fun for a while but quickly becomes tiring and you will regret you don’t have the real thing.
Evo is the one for me and this is coming from a Miata driver, so what do I know!
