2006 and 2007 STI

Ok here we go again, but I would like to take the opportunity to explain things a little better. First off props go out to the 2006 STI that recently went 11.7@113mph on the stock turbo (shattering the stock turbo record for the STI). Honestly I would have thought that STIs would have hit 11s long ago on the stock turbo (some have certainly made the power), but the combo of stock turbo that starts to really fall off on the top end and the gearing is what has held the STI back.

With that said lets put some things in perspective-

Yes the new STI has more potential than it's predecessors, I expect 07 STIs to start to hit very low 12s@110-113mph with bolt ons on pump gas, some may even run high 11s. That is pretty good improvement in my books. Throw in some race gas or 100 octane and 11s should start to fall into the norm. So yes the STI is finally making the power and running the times that it should have been running a long time ago. But hold on their STI fan boys, as somebody said in another thread, let us walk before we start to run. Simply running 11s does not yet put you on the same level as a EVO IX. Mid to high 11s are nothing new for the EVO IX. While high 11s are impressive, EVO IXs I believe are on the verge of low 11s and maybe a few may even hit high 10s with some kick *** driving. The key is Cams, and I must admit I have been very impressed lately with Cosworth Cams and GSC S1 Cams. I am not taking anything away from the 07 STI, but I find it so surprising how so many EVO owners don't even realize the potential of their own cars.

If you are a pretty good driver, ideal track sea level drag strip (such as ATCO or SAC Raceway), and a good running car these are the times and traps you should expect from your cars-

06 EVO IX w/ following mods- Full TBE with Cat Delete, O2 Housing, MBC@22-24PSI, LICP, Filter/Intake and Tuning should equate to high 11s to low 12s@112 to 116mph. Race fuel and some excellent driving and mid 11s are easily a possibility. Now Cams come into the picture, and if EVO IXs have been able to achieve high to mid 11s with out Cams, then I don't see why low 11s are out of the question. Don't be surprised to see trap speeds in the 116 to 119mph, maybe some even higher and low 11s.

07 STi w/ following mods- Full TBE with Cat Delete, Filter/Intake, Headers, MBC@18.5 to 20.5PSI, EWG, and Tuning and I wouldn't be surprised if these cars are hitting low to mid 12s@108 to 112mph. You may not think that is not much of an improvement, but it is when compared with the times and traps from prior year STIs. Hitting low 12s on the stock turbo and pump gas prior to the 06 STIs was very rear or even unheard of. Throw in some race fuel and excellent driving and high 11s@111 to 115mph should be achievable.

Lots of work there.

While Most-Wanted went 11.5 at like 118 or higher with turbo back exhaustwith test pipe, fp, intake, manual boost controller, and a Dynoflash for race fuel.

Dan Bajalis went 11.5 at 117 with O2 back to stock catback, fp, drop-in, manual boost controller, GSC exhaust cam, and AMS flash on race fuel. And 11.4 when he dropped the exhaust.

In both cases. These drivers were well less than $2k invested. Great driving and great cars make for quick times.

not bad

That's a long streach though. Changing the whole hearbox ratio to 07.

No lie my firsy impression was to buy an 05 sti. But they didn't have 05 models anymore. So I went 06 ix mr. And when I go to subie meets. They acutally tell me my car is a better car. Wtf???

Although I feel great

No regrets

And I have close friends that owns sti saying evos are better

Eh both are capable of great things, one just cost more to get there. Make your car fast, and worry about how fast everyone elses is after you get there

Actually it was done on the stock 06' transmisson and gearing, Sean just know how to drive crap out of his car . His car did trap 115 that night to but he didnt get off the line good and ran a very low 12 on that run.

its easier than being said
even if you have everything running right or the power
nothing will always go as you said on ur first post on this thread

.1 is very very hard to get to
thats not a very small number
but once it gets down to it .1 is big margin

Like I said, congrats to you on your time, 11s out of stock turbo STIs should be more common now. But what gets me sometimes is EVO owners, especially ones named Al who started all this sh*t, that **** ******* ***** (leave that for your imagination, don't want to get banned ). I mean everybody is like WOW, 11s out of STI, ok dude, like welcome to last year, EVO IXs been doing that for how long now? I'm hoping to see some low 11s now from IXs.

Anyhow, I give the 06 and 07 STI props, I can't say I like you guys, infact I hate you with a mad passion and if I ever saw you at a drag strip I'd ignore the f*ck out of you, but I still give respect when it is deserved. I hope STI owners didn't take my words wrong, all I just ask for is that 06 and 07 STIs go through the same process that IXs had to go through before they were given their props and believed. I keep a database of vehicles on my spare time for myself, pretty extensive and I like to be accurate, I'm not gonna make updates and changes to it, until I am atleast 99% sure of what I am typing. I updated the 06 and 07 STI . Good job on your 11s Mitsubushi still rules but I give Subby some respect

I agree, it is always easier said than done, just look at my 1/4 mile time and you will see, but my point is, that atleast there is a possibility and greater one at that at running 11s with the stock turbo on a 06 and 07 STI. Before I would have said impossible. So good job.

might want to chill out just a bit, it's really not that big a deal and hell i LOVE it when suby guys are at the track because 75% of the time I go there isn't even another import/turbo 4-cylinder let alone an evo guy to talk to.

Chill, I don't have to chill on nothing, I hate Subaru and their owners, as far as I am concerned, they go suck on my big ***** ****. But hey that's my opinion and I am entitled to that. But I still give them credit, when credit is due.

What a ****in nut job!!!!!!!!!

You talk about hating people you dont even know and the company who actually honors their warranty on their vehicles compared to your dirtbag Mitsubishi company (not evo).

How you take yourself and your retarded database so serious is beyond me....

Exactly. Ive never met an evo or sti/wrx owner at the track that wasnt interested in talking shop let alone just being civil.
