Only 440 at the wheels? Assuming 20% drivetrain losses, that's 550 at the crank; if they're dynoing at 440 they're significantly underrated.

Yeah, I'm no Mustang fan, but I've heard that "It only puts 440 to the wheels!" quote before and it annoys me each time; people don't understand that that means the car either has exceptionally low drivetrain losses or is underrated.

big hp numbers are great and all but remember the thing is just shy of 4000lbs. power/weight ratio is still real important. A good portion of that weight is in the engine itself, good luck shedding that weight =o).

That's horrible.
High 12's; really? I had an 05 Mustang GT for a few weeks. It felt fast obviously because of the torque, but that's where the good news ended. Oh wait, the stock stereo and seats were good. And...

At least GM is smart enough to try and keep the weight down in the Vette. Although personally 400hp and a rated 12.9 1/4 isn't that impressive to me as it weighs less than the Evo. But that's just my opinion.

its way to heavy.. lol the 400hp z51 vette was faster in the 1/4 and 0-60... with 100 less hp? The mustang has no competition currently so they can afford to push out overweight cars

Sorry fellas, but the GT500 has ran 12.2 bone stock.

Oh, and the engine is so responsive that you can look at it funny and pick up 75 hp.

The car is heavy (3900 lbs), but all cars are getting heavy. The M6 coupe has 500hp and it's also 3900 lbs - who's complaining though?

People don't buy a GT500 to be pampered though. Different target audience. If the GT500 was ~3500 lbs it'd be alright, but not 3900+.
